Peter's confession of Jesus' as "Messiah, and Son of the Living God" is step 1 on the pathway of Biblical Discipleship. Jesus asks all of us the same question: "Who do you say that I am?" It's only when we've understood and accepted who Jesus really that we can commit to following him wherever he leads us. Jesus' response to Peter indicates that this confession of faith is foundational to everything else God wants to do in our lives and in His church. Once we say 'Yes' to Jesus, he promises to build his church with each one of us as living stones.
