Introduction
Story about imagining being desperate
Exposition

Not about John the Baptist’s death but about Herod’s reaction
What has Jesus done before when the scrutiny was getting high?
He departed from the Pharisees, he went away from the midst of the people of Nazareth
He also has be avoiding the crowds to a degree
To focus on His mission
What did he do here?
He withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by Himself.
Basically, a place where He and his disciples could be alone and away from scrutiny
Yet the crowds followed him.
Imagine this, you are try to isolate yourself as a famous person but the crowds wont leave you alone, you get on a boat...
So, vs 14, He goes ashore and sees desperate people.
Imagine, with me, a time when you see desperate people...
Gas station...
How would Jesus respond?
With compassion.
I.
