Fellowship_pt2: Reflecting

[THIS MONTH] - We’re studying fellowship.
We started this study with the understanding that greatly need the fellowship of the Holy Spirit who bears witness of our sonship with God in Christ.
We need this fellowship to experience the transformation and power!
This is necessary before we can truly fellowship with each other.
Lets continue that discussion [THIS WEEK]
2 Corinthians 13:14 NIV
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
[STORY] - Did you ever hate school? If you ask my son, Jackson, if he likes school, he’ll tell you NO!
If you ask my son, Jackson, if he likes school, he’ll tell you NO!
But I know him. He has a blast everyday at school.
So I know that’s not 100% true
The truth is, he hate the pressure to preform well.
Now, ask him if he likes his tutor, Mrs Barbara… YES!
WHY? - Because she HELPS ME!
[PAYOFF] - Life can have pressure (to perform). We need a HELPER!
John 14:26 NIV
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
[ASK] - Are you depending on the Helper to live your life well?
[CONTEXT] - When Moses spent time with God, his face would shine.
But because it would eventually fade, Moses wore a veil, so Isreal wouldn’t see it end.
2 Corinthians 3:17–18 NKJV
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
“Now” - Okay, something is different...
“the Lord is the Spirit” - not hidden anywhere...
“there is liberty (freedom)” - let this be a test for where you have allowed the Holy Spirit to operate in your life!
Personal walk, sin
Relationships
Career, finances, provision
[POINT] - “But” - something is different...
Our faces aren’t veiled. There is no separation, and no fading...
We see the glory, as in a mirror,
No fading, but transforming (us) from glory to glory.
[ASK] - Are you reflecting the glory of God in your life?

Reflecting

1 Corinthians 13:11–12 NIV
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
“When I was a child?” - have you grown? transformed?
The first thing we
“I shall know fully, even as I am fully known” - He KNOWS you, and AS WE FELLOWSHIP, we grow to know HIM.
[PAYOFF] - Today, let’s examine… how are we REFLECTING the glory of the Spirit in our lives?
I’ve had too many friends chasing the “experiences” of the Holy Spirit, but never reflecting His presence in their lives… how does that

Freedom

2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
The first this we see here is that there is Freedom when the Spirit is. (write that down = Freedom)
1 - There should be freedom in our lives!
I believe you can measure the areas in your life, touched by the Holy Spirit, by the freedom you experience in those areas.
2 - We should reflect freedom to others in our lives.
Do others look at our lives and see freedom?
Galatians 5:1 NIV
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:13 NIV
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
[ASK] - Are you free this morning?

Fruit

Gal
Galatians 5:16–18 NIV
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
There are different paths in this world, but more important are different “ways”
1 - Flesh
2 - Spirit
[ASK] - How do you know you are walking in the Spirit?
What fruit do you see in your life?
Galatians 5:22–25 NIV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
If you are walking in the Spirit, you should see Fruit (write that down = Fruit) of the Spirit in your life!
Matthew 7:16–20 NIV
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Do you know any “Spirit-filled” people who have no fruit?
What happened there???
“Spirit-filled” to them has become a religion, not a walk.

Face

2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
In the beginning of Creation, God created light out of darkness
The, through Christ, He did it again, but this time it was the true light of His Glory = Jesus.
“the face of Christ…” mirror, light, glory, face, reflecting…
[WRITE IT DOWN] - Face
Are we reflecting the face (glory, light) of Christ?
Oh, how this now brings into perspective what Jesus said...
Matthew 5:14–16 NIV
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matt 5:

Take Away

John 14:16–17 NIV
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
“But you know him”
“he lives with you and will be in you”
= FELLOWSHIP
MSGI will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you.”
