Jesus Saves an Ordinary Farm Boy

The Story of Billy Graham’s Conversion

What is Evangelism

the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness.
Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
-21
Jesus was given authority, in which he used to commission us to GO.
GO, doesn’t mean we should just sit idly by and wait for someone, it means we have to DO SOMETHING

Where Should We Evangelize?

Matthew 9:35–38 ESV
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Mt 9

The Fallout

Somewhere in the middle of the cycle, we get fatigued, dried up, and we start to spiritually wither.
We need DAILY renewal in our lives so we can be alert and ready to share the gospel with all cities & villages, and heal the sick and diseased!

It’s Going to Hurt

Harvest work is hard. It’s not just pulling flowers in a field. You are gathering a crop that has had 3/4 of a year to plant it’s roots.
Each person you encounter is going to have their roots planted in some way of thinking.
It is not your duty to point out where their roots are wrong, but to simply show them a better way!
Matthew 10:16–25 ESV
“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.

Fear no dark, Be the light

John 15:18–20 ESV
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
Disco Ball Reflecting Light
Ephesians 5:8–14 ESV
for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

It’s Not Just You Out There

We are called to be ambassadors of Jesus () and in doing that we are representing Him while He cannot be present.
John 20:21–23 ESV
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
Acts 1:8 ESV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 2:1–4 ESV
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2
Acts 2
Acts 2:41 ESV
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

Start with a Question

Each one of us in here in some way because someone asked us to come, or told us about it.
One of the biggest things stopping someone from coming, is that they don’t think they would be welcome.
So start with a question, talk about why its worth it to you (testimony), then ask them again!
