As I was thinking about Alicia’s upcoming trip and the water project I was drawn to two ties when Jesus talked about a Living Water.
In talking with a woman at a well who came to draw water, Jesus said,
And as Jesus was coming near to the time of his crucifixion he stood up in the temple and in a loud voice said.
John 7:
In communion which is what we celebrate every month we are reminded of the reality that in through Christ we have access to this living water.
During his last meal with his disciples, before he would be arrested and killed he set a pattern for us to follow.
So communion is a time where we remember the price Christ paid so that we can like the woman at the well, “give me this water so I won’t get thirsty.”
It is us coming together to remember what Christ accomplished for us in his death and resurrection.
Eternal Life.
It is a recognition that we cannot save ourselves in any way, but in humility we come before Jesus and say, but you can Jesus, thank-you for saving me.
These are symbols of what Chirst accomplished on our behalf.
So as we take the bread and the cup, if your hearts cry is to have Jesus save you, to remember what he did.
Then take the bread and the cup and celebrate what Christ has done.
We’ll pass out the bread and then take it together and then we’ll do the same with the cup.
