YOU MATTER

Introduction
My Weaknesses
Over-analyzing
Some times I focus way to much on the details when there’s a real simple answer!
Multi-tasking
Which doesn’t make ANY sense because I’m a DRUMMER!
Keeping My Room Clean
Glasses
When I was in elementary school I used to get these terrible, TERRIBLE headaches. And they would happen on and off during class.
I would get sent to the nurse, who would usually give me some kind of pain medicine.
But after a while, the nurse realized that something wasn’t right for me to be having headaches so much.
As it turned out, I was getting headaches because I was squinting so hard to see the board in the classroom. I’ve got HORRIBLE eyesight!

Strengths & Weaknesses
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Even those people that appear to be perfect!
Even Superman! He can fly, see through things, he’s super-strong… but he still has a weakness! (kryptonite)
There’s no way around this! It’s part of life!
There will be things that you’re better at, and things you’re not so good at.
Some are great at basketball, but they are just really bad at math. Everybody’s different.
What weaknesses do you have?
Sometimes weaknesses can also be called imperfections.
And sometimes these weaknesses can really make you feel bad about yourself.
But I have some really, really good news today. I want to read to you what the Bible has to say about our weaknesses!
2 Corinthians 12:9–10 The Message
and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.
2 Corinthians
This scripture is AMAZING!
What God is saying here is that even though you have weaknesses and imperfections, He can use those things and make you strong!
And so Paul says, “The weaker I get, the stronger I become, because of God!”
The Truth About You
Something that I always used to hate was when I saw someone bullying someone else.
Perhaps you’ve had someone make fun of you and joke about your weaknesses.
I don’t know what people tell you...
They might tell you that you’re not worth very much.
They might say that you’re not good at anything.
They might talk bad about you all the time, and it seems like they’ll never say anything good sometimes.
And a lot of times the Devil will cause you to think that you’re not worth anything… and that you need to just give up.
But I’m here today to tell you that all of these things are LIES! Don’t believe people like that! Don’t let their words get to you!
Because our Bible says that even in your weakness, you are strong with God!
Moses
Remember Moses?
Did you know that Moses had a problem with talking?
We’re not sure as to whether it was stuttering or if it was just a thing where he couldn’t talk well in front of people - but he wan’t good at talking somehow.
But it was Moses that God sent to Pharaoh to tell him out loud, “Pharaoh! God says to let His people go!”
And here’s a guy who had problems talking! And he did all of these amazing things for God! The parting of the Red Sea! The Ten Commandments!
YOU MATTER
What I want you to know today is that YOU MATTER! You matter to God, and you matter to this church!
You matter to me. You matter to Pastor. You matter to all your teachers and everyone in this church.
And I don’t know what it is that you have to deal with when you go home.
But in all of the things that you deal with, there’s a God today who is letting you know, “I made you - and all of the perfections that come with you. But when I finished creating you, I looked at you and said, It was good!”
You are not a bad thing to God! You are a good thing!
You matter to God! The problems that you deal with matter to God today!
The class that you have trouble getting good grades in - it matters to God!
That sin that maybe you need help with stopping - it matters to God!
Your family that you want to see coming to church and doing well - it matters to God!
Your problems matter to God - Because He’s got the strength to answer your prayers! We just have to give him a chance!
Conclusion
2 Corinthians 12:9–10 The Message
and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.
I wonder what would happen if we just gave Jesus control of every part of our life. We would be so strong!
Let Jesus take over today!
He’s trying to strengthen you! Living for Jesus doesn’t make you weak - it can only make you strong!
Talk to him about the things you struggle with!
Talk to him about the things that worry you!
Ask God to take care of it today! And He’ll make you strong!
