The Law and Rejection
Take from among you a contribution to the Lord.
Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord’s contribution: gold, silver, and bronze
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), .
Not sure how important this is that God asks the Israelites to donate at the very beginning.
10 “Let every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the LORD has commanded: 11 the tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases;
In other passages don’t we see God specifically naming the ones to work in and on the tabernacle?
30 Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
God calls a specific man to a specific task
2 And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whose mind the LORD had put skill, everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work.
The of course God also simply lays it on the hearts of men and women to do the work He has called them to.
35 And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), .
I wonder what it means that God’s glory filled the tabernacle?
Not too long earlier God was speaking with Moses “face to face.”
Now there is something about how God appears now that keeps Moses from entering.
Previously it was “the tent of meeting” that was simply made by men.
The tabernacle is specifically designed and prescribed by God.
Perhaps in this we find the reason for the greater respect and maybe why Moses couldn’t enter in.
Hebrews 8
What is the point of this?
Simply that God wanted his people to understand that their ultimate purpose was to dwell with him in heaven, not on earth.
In various ways during Old Covenant times, God taught his people the basic principle of salvation from sin: something that God considers a substitute must die in my place so that I may live.
God also taught his people in many ways during Old Covenant times that he loved corporate worship
