Performance (job, spouse, parent)
Circumstances (kids, no kids, loved one sick/died)
He saw people determining where they were based on where everyone else was.
They were measuring themselves against other people.

Comparing yourself to other people is like chasing the wind.
It is meaningless and cause you to be depressed.
There will be someone that has more than you - Possessions, Appearance, Performance, Circumstance.
You will also have more than other people.
Comparing is depressing.
Comparing Causes...
Pride - I have more.
Therefore I’m better.
Resentment - God, you owe me!
They don’t deserve that.
Greed - You will want things you can’t afford.
Divorce - finances = Drama

The book of James tells us what happens when we compare.

EVIL - they wanted Jesus killed because they envied him

What or whom am I going to use as my reference point to tell me I’m okay… that I’m doing right?
What is my measuring stick for contentment?
Christianity has the solution and the answer.
Mankind broke the relationship with God.
We enter into this world broken people.
Are attempt to fix it by using the wrong measure.
Jesus is the reference point.

HOW TO STOP THE DRAMA -
Run your race.
Comparison slows you up.
Mom and dad teach you kids to run there on race.
I can’t run your race and you can’t run my race.
2. See yourself as god see you.

BUT you can leverage what you have.
Give your best not just better than the other guy.

When your reference point is Jesus you have contentment and not comparison.

So, when I compare I have more drama and when I’m content the drama stops.
