God is Personal The Attributes of God, part 2 1. God is highly personal in nature 1. When we say God is personal, we mean he has personality, is a rational and emotional being, and relates to us as individuals. 2. God has always related interpersonally within ____________ (Gen 1:26). 2. God relates personally with you 1. God requires an ____________ from you personally (Hebrews 4:13) 2. God ____________ with you personally (Hebrews 4:15) 3. God ____________ about you personally(1 Peter 5:7) 4. God ____________ you personally (Psalm 139:2-3) 5. God ____________ with you (Psalm 56:8) 6. God ____________ in you (Zeph 3:17) 7. To reveal Himself God came as a ____________, Jesus Christ (Jn 1:18). 8. No one is more personal than God’s ____________ in us (Romans 8:9). 3. This is great news because: 1. He is an ____________ ____________ because he knows exactly what you need at all times (Mt 6:8) 2. When no one understands, He ____________ (Romans 8:26) 3. Proof that your life ____________ (Romans 8:26) 4. God is involved in the ____________ and the ____________ (Gen 16) What to do when you don’t feel like God cares about you · Remember, you are not alone in feeling this way. Nearly all believers experience these kinds of feelings. God really does care about us as He has said in His Word. But we sometimes don’t feel it because of our brokenness. · Remember, God has promised if you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you (James 4:8). To draw near: 1. Open God’s Word (perhaps to the Psalms) and pray “God, I’m taking a step toward you. Please speak to me.” 2. Share your struggle with a godly friend - Find the most godly friend you have and ask them to spend time with you and pray with you. Open up to them. Share your hearts and look for God to show up. This has to be one of the most overlooked remedies for spiritual struggles- where two or more are gathered, there I am with them… Knowing Christ Experiencing Christ Sharing Christ www.southtappschurch.org
