In order to exercise wisdom in a matter, there are times when we will need the counsel of those we trust, are maybe more mature in the faith, or have experienced similar situations.
some Christians just take a sort of counseling poll from different people and sort through the advice, but making their own decision in the end.
Some, will already have an expected course of action and seek out those who will validate their opinion.

You might say, oh that we had some of these prophets today!
Some would assert that we do!
And some will appoint themselves as the prophet of God!
It’s interesting that one of my strongest leadership gifts is prophecy!

Just because someone is a believer does not mean they will give good godly counsel, even those who have been Christians for a long time.
Many Christians are good at giving advice to others but not good at taking their own advice.

It sounds totally ridiculous that a Christian would seek advise from the world, but let me give you an example of how easily it’s done.
Back during the 1980’s there was a movement in the American church to be more efficient in the organization and implementation of the local church.
What was borne from this was the corporate business model.
Suddenly the Christian book stores were flooded with a outpouring of books outlining the do’s and don’ts of church success through these applied business techniques.
We are still trying to recover from this assault.
It is far to easy to use the principles of the world in our own daily lives, and seek out those we deem to be experts in their field.
C. Ourselves.
In a nut shell, we think too highly of ourselves, and believe our own hype!

There are so many that are looking for some supernatural message from God to know what to do.
And there are many churches that will accommodate you in that.
They have their prophets, who have been given a word of knowledge for you!
You can run to them and take their advice if you like.
I would rather be bitten by a rattle snake!
They are deceivers who have been deceived.
And what they practice violates the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers.
Peter says we are a royal priesthood, and we storm the throne of grace boldly, and have but one high priest, The Lord Jesus Christ!

What I want you to understand is that these verses from Proverbs speak to the practicality of seeking advice from counselors.

The underlying meaning from all three, is that there is a general level of safety from a group being in agreement together!
But, what it does not say is that, this is a fool proof way of exercising Godly wisdom!
This is why the wisest thing we can do as disciples of Christ, is to use discernment!
If you are going to seek advice:
Make sure of the source.
Make sure it does not contradict the Word.
Apply Biblical principals to the situation and against the advice.
