Good evening, welcome to Harvest Student, it is my pleasure to be talking to you today.

Last week we started a new series called “12 ways your phone is changing you”, and we said that No. 1 was?

“We are addicted to distractions, we defined a distraction as Anything that preoccupies our attention with this world and life.

Something that diverts our minds and hearts from what is most significant.

What were some of the ways we said that we were addicted to distractions?

We use digital distractions to: keep work away, keep people away, and keep thoughts of eternity away.

So ask yourself this question, does your smartphone habits expose the fact that you are addicted to other pleasures more than spending time with God?

Are you more interested in gaining the world of pleasures and losing your soul in the process?

Because ultimately that’s what this is about!

Today we discuss the 2nd way our phone is changing us.

No. 2 We ignore our own flesh and blood.

So many times we’s rather talk or find other amusements on our phones than spending time having face to face conversations with our own biological family.

We ignore the people we pass on the street.

We ignore the people in our homes.

I get that technology has given us many new tools that allows us to be in contact with a friend over 10000 miles away, follow the lifestyle of your favorite celebrity, become a celebrity by getting responses to your frequents posts, and the list could go on.

But what is suffering is the person in the same house with you, it’s like they don’t even know who you really are!

Your likes, cravings, what you spend most of your time doing, they just know you as their daughter, son, brother, or sister, cousin, you name the relations.

All they know about you is what’s written on paper.

You don’t share with them your goals, your dreams, favorite music, movies, what really happened at the last party or hangout that you went to, all they get is the facade.

It’s funny how much we ignore our family, we take them for granted because after all they’re always like right there.

We ignore the people in our schools/work.

While the bible doesn’t give much examples about ppl shunning other ppl, it does speak about the word that is opposite in nature to ignoring.

And that is love.
