Bottomline: Praying give us this day our daily bread is a bold proclamation of faith and surrender in God to provide what you need in His way not your own.

Intro- Recap series thus far...
-Story of Korean Orphanage and bread

“ ‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

10 your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, s

but deliver us from the evil one.’

Throughout history God has been providing for His people in basic and incredible ways...
- Manna for the day…
When the Israelite’s were in the desert God provided for them each day what they NEEDED....it forced them to trust Him at His word and live of what they needed.

Give me neither poverty nor riches!

Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.

For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, Who is the Lord? And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God ’s holy name.

Remember in the Lord’s prayer its give us…not give me....

Gut check- Does your lifestyle lend itself to a surrender of trust and dependency to God?

Daily bread is just what we need and helps create a dependency on Him.
Contentment is a process that involved growing heart of gratitude
Most of us honestly probably don’t ask for God to provide our basics and we probably even forget to thank Him for providing them.....I know I am guilty of this.
What if in our prayers we began asking God to provide and see how he does.
Give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God
’s holy name.
s holy name.
The Gospel of Matthew, Volume 1 The Charter of Prayer (Matthew 7:7–11)

God will always answer our prayers; but he will answer them in his way, and his way will be the way of perfect wisdom and of perfect love.

Trust God with your daily bread. Don’t worry about it. Know He is a good father who will give you want you need because He loves you.

Thank God for how He provides in the present, trust Him to provide in the future, and live generously like Our Father who loves us.

Give me neither poverty nor riches!
Give me just enough to satisfy my needs.
For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, Who is the Lord? And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God ’s holy name.

Talk about the challenge in the journal....

Trust God with your daily bread. Don’t worry about it. Know He is a good father who will give you want you need because He loves you.
