TRUST

As this new year has begun, I have decided that my word for the year is trust. I want to continue to learn to trust God in EVERYTHING. As a new believer I had to put my faith in God that what the bible says is
100% from God, written by man, inspired to do so from God.
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
As Christians the bible is the foundation of our belief, we believe that the entire book, from Genesis to Revelation is from God. And with continued immersion in it, we see how/why each part is put there.
I do believe in once saved always saved, however I believe that in my personal walk many times I decide to not trust that God is in control, that somehow little ol me needs to help God in the next step of my walk with him. In this I am not trusting him, I’m not having faith that he will provide.

30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.

Faith vs Trust Despite of the difference between faith and trust, the two words, trust and faith, are often used interchangeably. So, you can say that trust and faith are two words that are often confused when it comes to understanding their meanings and connotations. Faith is used in the sense of ‘belief’ or ‘devotion’. On the other hand, the word trust is used in the sense of ‘confidence’ and ‘reliance’. This is the main difference between the two words. Various words have arisen from the two words, namely, faith and trust. Both of the words, trust and faith are used primarily as nouns.

But I have trusted in your steadfast love;

my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

6  I will sing to the LORD,

because he has dealt bountifully with me.

5  But I have trusted in your steadfast love;

my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

6  I will sing to the LORD,

because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Here David so beauitful writes about the great Love of God, and the trust he has in him. Of course David had some shortcomings, but still rejoiced in Gods Love. Trusting that God would provide.

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”

Here in John, Jesus is telling us that we need to believe in him, and believe in God. nice view of the trinity here. Now in faith we believe this, but do we always act like we believe it?

Think about a kid from a rich family, I’m sure we can all think of one. He acts, walks and talks like he is all that. He knows that he has money, he will always be taken care of. Yet as believers we have so much more, yet we don’t act like that. Many of days were wallowing in self pity, most of it brought on by ourself.
WHY DO WE ACT LIKE THIS??
It comes down to faith. If we truly believe in God and that the word of God is true, then we will not have doubt, but because we are sinners, we will at times doubt God, and make our own way.

21 And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Yes as believers we will have times of doubt, after all we live in this old fleshly body, but we also know that we have the holy spirit who helps us in time of doubt.
HOW DO WE DEAL WITH DOUBT???
We have to go to the source, the word of God. Thats why it so important to spend time in the word, so we can fight doubt and back it up with what the word says.
Romans 15:13

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 14:17 ESV
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:22 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy spirit is our helper..
Romans

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

While reading the word and in meditation the holy spirit will lead us into making the right choice. and give us comfort.

13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

Again as
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.

Living in this ol sinful body we can decide to ignore the spirit and do our own thing

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

It is so easy to go with the flow, with whatever this crazy world has decided is the “RIGHT” thing to say, do, be. BUT if it is contrary to the word of God, then its wrong, no matter what the world thinks.
