11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

Purpose of teachers, pastors, and leaders are for building up the body of Christ so that the body itself may do ministry

Our gathering together is for the same purpose: to equip for ministry

By reaching unity in the faith and knowledge of Christ

Challenging into maturity

culminating into someone who looks like Christ in every way

walking in confidence in faith so that we will not be swayed or bounced around by different ideas

by craftiness

deceitful schemes

every wind of doctrine

In contrast to being swayed by every idea out there in the world, we are to speak to truth in love to one another in order to grow up in every way into Christ our head (the center Root to our faith)

We we all work together to play our part in Christ, our gathering will grow and be built up into a tree made up of biblical love.

This will make up what we will be studying in our gatherings during the upcoming weeks

The Root of our faith (Christ)

The fruit or our faith (obedience)

Do you believe we could all be in unity as believers?

What is needed for that unity to be realized?

How would you describe Maturity in Faith?
