In this passage we are given 2 specific commands in these verses and they are to hold fast to our confession in vs. 14 and draw near with confidence vs. 16. These commands are not based on anything in us, but they are based entirely on who Jesus is: Since Jesus is our great high priest the sons of God who has passed through the heavens, we must, therefore, hold fast our confession. Furthermore, since Jesus is our high priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses, we should draw near with confidence to the throne of grace to receive mercy and help.
