Children are Staying!
Shake and Howdy
Message:
Intro:
Joe just in children’s sermon, emphasized the humanity of Jesus, and how Jesus humbled himself to become a baby.
The Almighty God needed nothing.
Thee's nothing that he cannot do
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty,
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There's nothing my God cannot do.
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that he cannot do
There's nothing my God cannot do.
The rivers are his, the mountains are his
The mountains are his, the rivers are his,
The stars are his handiwork too
the stars are his handiwork, too.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that he cannot do
There's nothing my God cannot do.
Marvel at the fact that Almighty God became a tiny baby.
The eternal Son took on human flesh, 1 person with 2 natures, fully divine and fully human.
There is something about Christmas that can bring about the inner child in us. the smells, the lights, the chill.
When we think of the Christmas Story and how Almighty God, humbled himself to become a baby, it reminds us of something Jesus taught about us.
That we must humble ourselves to have child-like faith.

Not in terms of spiritual maturity.
We Must be child-like in terms of our dependence upon God.
completely dependent.
As I was thinking over this message, I was reminded how quickly this goes away.
Both of my children started out so small, but it wasn’t long before they started saying, “I’ll do it myself.”
This is why this passage comes right after the famous parable of the Pharisee and tax collector praying.
The Pharisee didn’t need God (his use of “I”)
The Tax Collector though, was helpless like a baby.
He recognized that he was a sinner and that nothing could save him except the mercy of God.
The point:
So as you read the Christmas story tonight and you think about that little baby, be reminded of his humility.
and approach him humbly...
