A. Jesus is Head of the Church.

B. We either accept His leadership or deny it.

If we deny it we can not equip the saints or edify the body.

How are the apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors and teachers to do this?
A. Through the Word of God.
1. Unity in faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God (Vs 13.).
2. The Word of God keeps us from being tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine.
3. A person that is firm on God’s Word is planted like a tree with deep roots.

4. But if you do not know the Word of God you will be blown away like chaff.
3. COMES OUT THROUGH US TO THE WORLD.
A. Once we are planted and deeply rooted in faith through His Word...

We speak the truth in love.
A. The truth in love equips the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

In context here it is to equip the saints so that they can stop being tossed to and fro by tricky, cunning deceitful men.
2. How did Jesus handle those that were being tossed to and fro?
3. How did Paul handle an erring brother that was being tossed to and fro?

If we are being tossed to and fro how do we stop?
4. How do we as a faithful member handle a brother/sister that is being tossed to and fro?

5. As the Church if we avoid controversial topics how do we equip the saints to deal with those that teach err?

If the horrors of sin are not taught how can we equip the saints to remove sin?
7. If sound doctrine is not taught then how can we equip the saints to teach soundly.
4. HOLDS THE CHURCH TOGETHER.
Eph 4
A. If a Church dose not speak the truth in love it will fall apart.

If each person in the church dose not love the truth and cling to it the church will fall apart.
A. There will be division were division should not exist.
2. If biblical love is not properly understood and applied the church will fall apart.
A. This will happen because of the many different teaching and doctrines that spawn from personal interpretation of Scripture.
2 Peter 1.19-2.
B. If any Church wants to be held together it must...
1. Go to the Scriptures for what truth is.
2. Go to the Scriptures for what love is.
3. Model their lives after how Jesus taught the truth in love.
CONCLUSION:
