(KJV)
2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way.
O when wilt thou come unto me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
(walk with integrity of heart - ESV)
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
(walk with integrity of heart - ESV)
3 I will set no wicked [worthless] thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
(I will know nothing of evil - ESV)
(ESV)
Did they make a difference?
I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin?
Did you keep them?
(ESV)
31 “I have made a covenant with my eyes;
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful.
“All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
Do you remember them?
how then could I gaze at a virgin?
12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful.
“All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
(ESV)
Do you remember them?
Did you write them down?
59 When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies; 60 I hasten and do not delay to keep your commandments.
Did you share them with anyone else?
(ESV)
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.
But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
God’s stated purpose for His word being written and given to us is “so that we may not sin.”
If we strive for that (to not sin) and find ourselves falling, there is a remedy for that - we have Jesus as our Advocate with the Father
If we don’t even try to not sin - assume that we will - we certainly will sin
Will we sin this week?
we should not even ask a question like that
Rather, we should focus on living rightly NOW in obedience… by the power of God available to all of us!
(ESV)
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,
(ESV)
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
I believe God honors believers who resolve to live in obedience to those things revealed in Scripture and that the Holy Spirit impresses on our lives.
God honors the intention, motivation, and desire to do these things because we love Him.
Walk Circumspectly… Redeeming the Time
Walk Circumspectly… Redeeming the Time
(KJV)
1 Be ye therefore followers [imitators] of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
