Great Expectations for 2018
Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)
5For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.
Today I am borrowing some ideas from a Baptist Pastor by the name of Kevin Parks. I was searching for the thought of Great Expectations for 2018 and I came across some of his ideas. I love the new year. People get so excited about change, about diets, about the fact that Christmas is over, Parents are excited that kids will be back in school soon for the next 6 months and kids are excited that they will be out of school in 6 months. As a kid we always had watchnight services that would start at 8:00 and go until midnight and the start of the new year. People would sing, we would have multiple preachers, we would have snacks, then we would go back for more singing, another preacher and finally we would begin the new year on our knees praying in the new year. As I got older the tradition of these services faded as more and more people were afraid of drunk drivers, stupid people and it becoming just another night. Well, to me it is all of the above. I love get togethers, but I also like to be in church, but I also like to sleep… Either way we all begin the new year with Great Expectations. With that we will talk about three things this morning.
