SHINE ON

The song we teach our children has the following words that we could do well to Incorporate in our own live.

Jesus bids us shine with a pure clear light like a little candle burning in the night In this world of darkness so we must shine You in your small corner, and I in mine.

The text I would like to consider is the book of .

That is the book of John the apostle, chapter eight and verse twelve.

It states

“Then spake Jesus unto them saying, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

This is a lovely and rich passage to preach Jesus and our Christian walk from and it cannot be done in 10 Minutes but let us see what nuggets we can find in the time we have.

This passage comes at the end of the paragraph of the parable of the woman who was caught in adultery – in other words, a church in apostasy.

In verse seven (7) He gave His judgement to the members of the church, “He that is without sin cast the first stone”.

Then in verse eleven (11) He told the church (a woman) “Go and sin no more”.

Turn over a new leaf.

Do a new thing.

It’s a New Year.

Two thousand and eighteen is a NEW YEAR.

And so, our verse is at the end of this passage with Jesus declaring HIMSELF to and his mission to the brethren.

“I AM!” The same I am that the SELF-EXISTENT ONE.

I am the Bread that came down from heaven, I am that I am who sent Moses to free the children of Israel from pharaoh, I am come that YOU mighty have life and have it more abundantly.

However, there are some conditions.

First men love darkness more than light.

Yet most religions has a lighting service.

The Buddhists have their Shining Pathway, The Hindu have their Diwali and the Jews and the Jewish have what is called their HANUKKAH,

HANUKKAH is a service of celebration and thanksgiving for victory over sins of the nation and in the nation.

Over sins of oppression of Antiochus IV Ephanies.

It reminds me of the Alamo.

Remember the ALAMO.

Remember HANNUKKAH,

HANNUKKAH is also called the Feast of Dedication in the history of the Jews in the bible ().

It was not given to Moses as one of the seven sanctuary services but was added after.

The symbol of Hannukkah is the MENORAH.

This is the branched candlestick.

Moses was given seven branches Hannukah uses nine branches.

One represents the source and from that light everyday one of the eight is lit for the eight days of Hannukkah.

The lamp is put in a doorway beside a bit of parchment paper Mezazuh with bits of the law along with the Shema Yisrael written on it from “Hear O Yisrael!

The Lord Thy God is One (Lord).”

Justifying two sayings(1) “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my path”.

That’s what Jesus is telling the church that He is.

He is who He says He is a LIGHT.

The 2nd Psalm 199:130 “The entrance of Thy Word giveth LIGHT”.

So, the MENORAH is the Lampstand and they are using the LIGHT from it in the Dedication of the Sanctuary.

That’s what HANNUKKAH is about.

REDEDICATION.

Why do they need to do this

In the INTERTESTEMENT period, that is the 400 years between Malachi and Matthew, the temple was profane and a King named Antiochus IV Ephanies slaughtered 40,000 Israelite, sent 40,000 into slavery abroad, collected all the books of the people, tell them to profane God’s laws and then on top of that, he sacrificed a pig on the altar in the sanctuary.

JESUS honored it according to Jesus Himself came to the feast of Dedication.

To honor the light and declare that He was that LIGHT and He was the light of men

WHY?

You see the “I am is the light of the world ‘if you walk with Jesus, you will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life”

Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel.

But on a candlestick (a Menorah) and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

While not mentioning Hanukkah Seventh-Day Adventist has been countenancing the activities that led to Hanukkah deeply in our theology.

This is because the Jesuits started a false doctrine to try to destroy the prophecy of which states, “And he said unto me, “Unto two thousand and three hundred days (2300 years); then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”

Because in understanding this prophecy you cannot be fooled in not knowing that the Vatican is little horn of and the first beast of .

The Jewish people hate it because it revealed JESUS the MESSIAH.

So we as Adventist has to hold on to 1844.

For if we do anything else, everything Adventism stands for crumbles.

But in the FIRST REDEDICATION SERVICE A MIRACLE OCCURRED.

All the oil in the sanctuary was profane.

However they found one little cask (a small barrel) with pure oil.

A symbol that God’s Holy Spirit was pleased with their stance and had returned to the sanctuary.

This amount should last for a day.

It took the apothecary eight days to make a new batch of oil.

Yet the MENORAH burned for the entire eight days.

And so the FEAST OF RE-DEDICATION was started – HANNUKKAH

And Jesus through His Holy Spirit has come to the sanctuary even now.

It is time for re-dedication of our body temple and our church

“Arise shine shine for thy LIGHT has come and the glory of the LORD has arisen upon you”.

For 2018 :(16) “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your FATHER which is in heaven.”

The PATH of the Just is as a shining light, shining more and more unto the perfect day.

So shine in your corners for Two Thousand and Eighteen,

Sign On and Shine ON, Shine On for JESUS in 2018.

Carry the LIGHT of His word wherever you go, (Thy word is a Menorah unto my feet and Jesus the Light unto my path.

Shine the LIGHT of his words in your homes and communities.

Shine the light of His words in a dark and dying world so others can see it and come to worship God , our Father which is in heaven.
