Why I celebrate Christmas

Christmas reminds me that God keeps His promises

The birth of Christ was not an event which occurred by accident. Jesus’ birth was planned by God. The prophets of old predicted and proclaimed of this spectacular moment in time.
God promised Christ would be born and God kept the promise
Isaiah 7:14 ESV
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Application: Praise God for His integrity. God is faithful and keeps His promises
Christmas reminds me that God uses ordinary people

Christmas reminds me that God uses ordinary people

Joseph and Mary
- there was nothing special about them, but they were willing and available
- their situation wasn’t the ideal situation but it was God’s plan and they were a part of it
God used them to do something extraordinary
Illustration: Marylin McCoo and Billy Davis sang a song that say’s you don’t have to be a star to be in my show . . . you don’t need to be a superstar baby just come as you are.
Transition: When God used Joseph he wasn’t looking for a superstar. He was looking for a willing, and available servant.
Application: be willing and available for God to use you

Christmas reminds me that God gives His best

Jesus Christ the gift to the world
Jesus is God’s best
He did not have the issues of Abraham
He didn’t act like Jacob
was not like Moses
Application: Rejoice for Christ because has given us His very best
