The gifts:

The Belt- gird up our Minds
The Breastplate—our practice and position go together
Shod our Feet—Our wills are submitted to God’s Will
Shield of Faith—We believe and trust God

Sword of the Spirit—

The “Sword” is the Word of God—This gift is to be used for “offensive” purposes—With the sword we are to deal death blows to the enemy.
This is a “sword” that the Spirit of God provides, the Word of God. It has been furnished by the Holy Spirit. He, the Holy Spirit, gives the sword its “effectiveness”, its actual cutting edge.
Psalm 119:11 KJV 1900
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
-
Hebrews 4:12 KJV 1900
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Conviction—The Sword of the Spirit is used to “penetrate” hearts with conviction about sin, righteousness and judgment.
Conviction—The Sword is used to “penetrate” hearts with conviction about sin, righteousness and judgment.
New Birth-
Maturing New Believers-

We are to USE it!

-Read it-
-Meditate on it- doing so brings victory. (Psa 1:1-3)
Psalm 1:1–3 KJV 1900
Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

My SPIRIT that is upon thee, and my WORDS which I have put in the mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth.
This is the WORD of the Lord … not by might, nor by power, but by My SPIRIT saith the Lord.
The HOLY GHOST shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to SAY.
It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the WORDS that I speak, … they are SPIRIT, and they are life.
They were all filled with the HOLY GHOST, and they spake the WORD of God with boldness.
For to one is given by the SPIRIT the WORD of wisdom. To another the WORD of knowledge, by the same SPIRIT.
Our Gospel came not unto you in WORD only, but also in power, and in the HOLY GHOST.
Be thou an example of the believers in WORD … in SPIRIT …
Duffield, G. P., & Van Cleave, N. M. (1983). Foundations of Pentecostal theology (pp. 27–29). Los Angeles, CA: L.I.F.E. Bible College.
Just as it would be foolish for a soldier in an earthly army to neglect the only weapon he is issued, so it is foolish for the Christian to neglect the “Mastery” of the one weapon at his disposal, being filled with the Holy Spirit.

“Take the Helmet of Salvation”-

HOPE

Jesus is the gift of Love from God—
1 John 4:9 KJV 1900
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

Salvation—

Salvation—GOD planned it—JESUS paid for it—THE HOLY SPIRIT brings it.

GOD planned it—JESUS paid for it—THE HOLY SPIRIT brings it.

The first step is to “take”—take hold of, to grasp, to receive, to accept!
Paul’s intent of the helmet is to give us a picture of the “protection” that salvation provides.
The “helmet” of salvation is the assurance of salvation and the resulting confidence it brings. A helmet is a “confidence builder”. Properly worn and used, it affords protection.
Imagine the “helmet of salvation” placed on our heads by the nail pierced hands of Christ at our conversion. The helmet assures us that whatever happens, we will be saved and experience victory in Christ.
To put on the “helmet of salvation” is to realize one’s New Identity in Christ!

FULL COVERAGE

I have an insurance policy
Written in the blood of the Lamb,
Sealed by the Cross of Jesus,
Redeemable wherever I am!
The company will never go bankrupt,
It is bonded by God’s promise true;
It will keep every word of its contract,
Exactly what it says it will do.
I don’t have to die to collect it,
No premiums do I have to pay;
All I do is to keep God’s promise
And walk in His holy way.
No collector will ever come calling,
It was paid on Calvary’s tree;
It insures me for living and dying
And for all eternity.
Tan, P. L. (1996). Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations: Signs of the Times (p. 1190). Garland, TX: Bible Communications, Inc.
The helmet infuses optimism in the midst of the course of the battle of this world.

-destroyed the works of satan-

Confidence

—even though our hope is in the future, it is guaranteed now.

2 Thessalonians 2:16–17 KJV 1900

-Our hope is secured by Christ’s resurrection-
-Our hope is secured by Christ’s resurrection-
-Our hope produces JOY!-
-In Hope we are saved!

The blessing of having Jesus Christ as Lord and King!

Jesus didn’t come to judge but to save
There is no other name by which we may be saved

Heart of the Christmas Story

—God in His mercy doing for sinners what they cannot do for themselves—mending broken lives, restoring shattered hope! Holman treasury of key Bible words: 200 Greek and 200 Hebrew words defined and explained (p. 321). Nashville, TN: Broadman & Holman Publishers.

God in His mercy doing for sinners what they cannot do for themselves—mending broken lives, restoring shattered hope!
A right beginning involves an unconditional surrender to the Lordship and Kingship of Jesus.
Religion may be learned on Sunday, but it is lived in the weekday’s work. The torch of religion may be lit in the church, but it does its burning in the shop and on the street. Religion seeks its life in prayer, but it lives its life in deeds. It is planted in the closet, but it does its growing out in the world. It plumes itself for flight in songs of praise, but its actual flights are in works of love. It resolves and meditates on faithfulness as it reads its Christian lesson in the Book of Truth, but “faithful is that faithful does.” It puts its armor on in all the aids and helps of the sanctuary as its dressingroom, but it combats for the right, the noble, and the good in all the activities of practical existence, and its battle ground is the whole broad field of life.

Matthew 1:21 KJV 1900
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
