Joy is a journey, and the guide is with us.
Luke 2:
The Good News is for ALL PEOPLE
The good news that pushes back the darkness is for all people, that means ALL people.
This could have been offensive to the Jews who knew that they were special people to God, but God had a plan to redeem all things.
So the Gospel is for the:
person in the slums in India, as much as it is for the mansion owning big shot banker in beverly hills.
You know, We don’t have to reach a certain social status
We don’t have to reach a certain income level
We don’t have to reach a certain moral perfection or superiority
We don’t have to reach a certain level of education or enlightenment
We don’t have to be able to prove our own righteousness
We don’t have to be republican or democrat
The Gospel is for anyone who believes, this is a great joy found in the good news, that God accepts all kinds of people because he accepts us on the basis of who HE is and not who we are.
So if you've never heard this before… The good news that Jesus saves even the most messed up people and separates them from their sin as far as the east is from the west, and he places on you the smile of God forevermore.
If you've never heard that before, then hear it now, THE GOSPEL IS FOR YOU and for me!
THE GOOD NEWS IS FOR ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
This Christmas could be THE Christmas for you, whether you are in great times of splendor or heart sunken sorrow the fact that God came in the flesh changes everything.
We can have Joy in all circumstances because we know that God cares.
God didn't need to send His son, yet he sent His son into a broken world and killed death itself.
Joy is a journey, and the Guide is with us, this should bring us great joy.
You might not be feeling great joy because this could have been a rough year for you and because of some decisions you have made there are a lot of people left hurting in your wake, well Jesus redeems us even in those times, the times of our rock bottom shame.
God understands our predicament because God put on flesh, this is the most understated thing in the world… God put on HUMAN FLESH.
In fact, this is what makes Jesus so empathetic toward us.
He came to this earth, and experienced life exactly as we do, He was tempted in every way as we are, yet He didn't cave to the sin that you and I are so prone to do.
So He knows what you're going through, he’s cried, he’s been heartbroken, he’s been betrayed, and he knows what it means to be fully human.
If this Christmas is a painful one, you must know that even in the pain Joy is possible because Joy is a journey and the Guide is with us.
Jesus is willing to walk hand in hand with you through the hard times and Joyfully celebrate with you in the good.
THE GOOD NEWS IS FOR ALL TIME
This Gospel is true, it is for all people, in all circumstances, for all time.
In the coming ages we will be praising God with full hearts overflowing with Joy because of the work that Christ has done on our behalf.
There is a day coming when we will know the fullness of Joy because God will do away with all of the sorrow, all of the shame, all of the hurt, and introduce us to everlasting satisfied life with Him.
But that Journey starts today.
God will walk with us today, and His hands are spread wide enough and low enough to accept even the most broken sinner.
He accepts all those who are willing to say that they can’t do it on their own.
and heres the catch… None of us can do it on our own, so joyfully admit your need for a savior, He already knows your struggles, and His presence in your life will begin the journey to the fullness of Joy.
