Ø More importantly, why is Jesus a gift that we should receive? 2. (SLDIE 2-3) SERIES & MESSAGE INTROS a) Christmas is a celebration of that first Christmas when they, 'welcomed' Jesus into the world. (But why did they welcome Him?) b) Moreover, our Christmas carols talk about 'receiving' Him, like "Let earth receive her King." (What's that all about?) TEACHING: 3. (SLIDE 4-5) LUKE 24:44-48 4. (SLIDE 6) WHY WELCOME HIM? Ø They’d been waiting a long time for Him. (Law, Prophets, Psalms) 5. (SLIDE 7) WHY RECEIVE HIM? Ø They needed Him. (Forgiveness of Sins) APPLICATION: 6. (SLIDE 8) WHY SHOULD WE CONTINUE? a) Why should we still welcome Him? Why should we receive Him? b) We still need him.
