Born for a Purpose
Good Morning and Merry Christmas everyone.
this is such a great time to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
His birth means He lived as one of us, Human.
A miracle in itself for God the Son to live in flesh.
He was born for a purpose.
God is good.....
I pray He has brought you to a place of knowing Him and all He has done for mankind.
that He has revealed Himself through His Son and through His word.
And I pray that He has filled you with His Spirit so your faith in Him carries you through the seasons and times of life.
this morning, let’s see what scripture tells us about Jesus.
about His purpose for coming, and How that can affect us.... Isaiah 9:6:7 tells us a prophecy about Jesus and a hint about who He is to be on earth.
So much identity is given in this passage, but at the heart of it we find this child, born unto us......and not just born but given.
this word given is seen as a gift, an offering, without repayment.
this child, known by the many verses spoken about Him, shows true.
over 300 prophecies fulfilled to prove, He was the One, the chosen One, the Messiah who was to come for the deliverance of His people.
He was certainly born for a purpose.
and we know the familiar story of His birth..... born not in the best of the best, which would be right for the Son of God, but born in a manger....
We know the world did not know at the time what was about to transpire, but God, for all time, knew this was the moment.
God allowed 1000’s of years to pass, raising up a people first through Abraham, then a nation through Israel, and now a people of all nations.
The birth of Christ was the beginning of a purpose that God had planned for all time.
C.S. Lewis said,
“the Son of God became man to enable man to become sons of God.”
What a holy honor, to become something that we could not on our own, but Christ!
In this time of the Christmas season, my hope is that we can value our traditions, enjoy our family and friends while still reflecting on the greatest gift that was given by God the Father, a gift that causes our hearts to change, which gives us hope, peace and love.
the true purpose of Jesus to be born was to give His life as a gift to mankind.
imagine....the moment in the heavenlies.....
the Father, the Son, the moments before He came to earth.....
I wonder if there was a conversation?
The eternal Son of God, stepping down from His throne, maybe setting His crown down, taking off His robe, laying it on the arm of the chair, knowing He would be back, but for now, the Son of God would be coming to earth as a man, well He would become a man, but to start His life here, He would be a infant.
perplexing, yet exactly what needed to happen for the redemption of mankind.
this verse, speaking about the light, He is the Light of the world, what a timely event to celebrate His birth, when the light on earth is getting greater and greater.
but more than that, Jesus is the spiritual light that reveals the Fathers purpose.
The Father has a love that goes beyond any.
for the God of the universe to send His Son to show the world who He is through the life of Jesus, He has demonstrated unconditional love and forgiveness for sins to any who will believe on the name of Jesus.
We see Jesus, in the midst of His life on earth, treating others in ways that we could not understand......
He loved those who were unlovable..... forgave those that seemed unforgivable...... showing us exactly how God always wanted us to live.
it was His purpose to show us our sin, His righteousness and His grace all at the same time.
tell me, when you met Jesus, was it this way?
Did you meet the Son of God with conviction of your sin?
At the very same time realizing the cross of Christ was the purpose for His coming as a child.
He came to be the perfect life that you and I couldn’t live.
and even more, He took the life that we deserved.
this was the purpose all along for Jesus.
since sin entered the world, mankind needed their sin to be dealt with, NO other religion takes care of sin, none but Christianity.
Jesus dealt with the root of the problem.
This leads us directly to our purpose.
As you and I believe and receive this life changing gift, we are called to live it and tell it.
simple right?
Jesus said His yoke was easy and His burden was light.
scripture tells us we are new creations!
and so as we believe the message, it changes us within.
we begin to believe and experience the unconditional love that God has for us as we look at the life of Christ.
We make different decisions in life because we see how sin affects our relationship with God.
and we tell of the grace and mercy that we have experienced through the forgiveness we received, and others begin to believe as well.
the kingdom of God growing!!
All for Jesus coming to earth, you and I can know our creator, we can have a right relationship because of His life given to us as a gift.
the greatest gift in the world.
but this is certainly not the end of the story or the complete purpose of Jesus.
One day, we look ahead and know that one day, He is coming back! then He will deal with the the world in an entirely new way, but that sermon is for another week.
are you a person that has been seeking for answers?
looking for meaning?
needing that sense of purpose?
I ask you, where is Jesus in your life?
May the Christmas season bring us to a place of awe and wonder of how great our God is! and Jesus, coming as a baby, doing all He did for us, may we worship Him in the way that honors our King.
Merry Christmas everyone.
