God had a plan from the beginning...

Genesis 1:1 God Created!
Genesis 1:14-19 God spoke… He literally breathed out stars! (Day 4)
Genesis 1:14–19 NASB95
14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17 God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
The galaxies spin and rotate like clockwork… we can send a rocket to Mars and know exactly where it will land.
As the planets were spun into orbit He made sure there would be a star that would announce the birth of His Son
With His Words He prepared a universe for the coming of His son for you and me!

Day 6 God made you and me knowing He would need to send His Son… Genesis 1:26-27

Genesis 1:26–27 NASB95
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

When man brought sin into humanity God already had a plan… Genesis 3: 14-15

Genesis 3:14–15 NASB95
14 The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you will go, And dust you will eat All the days of your life; 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
The Seed of the woman would be the Son of God
The virgin would bring forth a Son! The child in her would be the seed of God (NOT the seed of of man) bringing forth the Son of God!

God sent His Son at the right time according to His Plan!

Galatians 4:4-5
Galatians 4:4–5 NASB95
4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Israel had been given the Law of God… but could not follow it perfectly
Israel disobeys God over and over… yet He remains faithful
They are invaded, defeated, taken captive, crushed as a nation… yet God is faithful to keep them, sustain them, and protect them as a people
God through Daniel prophesies all the things that would occur that must fall into place for His plan...
Alexander the Great defeats the known world… creates one language (Greek)
Rome will overthrow Greece and rule harshly...
Creating roads to all the known world
Creating a punishment that we would one day associate with our salvation… the cross
God had a plan… and at the right time He sends His Son as a baby into our world

John in his gospel summarizes God’s plan this way… John 1:1-5,14

John 1:1–5 NASB95
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:14 NASB95
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Timeless One… Steps into time!

Mackenzie asked a beautiful question the other night… “Daddy, how is Jesus born in a manger if He was already alive before that?
John 1:1 in the beginning… Jesus is God
He is all eternal… no beginning no end
Yet he steps into time Philippians 2:5-8
Philippians 2:5–8 NASB95
5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

The Word became flesh… To Deliver a Message!

God has been communicating with man from the beginning.
Jesus came to deliver the message of God’s love, grace, and mercy in person! John 3:16-18
John 3:16–18 NASB95
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
In order for us to best understand, God came to us!
He came as a man, using our language, learning, going through and understanding our struggles
Max Lucado- For thirty-three years he would feel everything you and I have ever felt...weak; weary; … His feelings got hurt. To think of Jesus in such a light seems almost irreverent. There’s something about keeping him divine that keeps him distant and predictable. But don’t do it! For heaven’s sake, don’t! Let him be as human as he intended to be. Let him into the mire and muck of our world. For only if we let him in can he pull us out!
Emmanuel… God with us!

The Word became flesh… To Deliver a People!

John would later write in his gospel the words of Christ… John 14:6
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
We were lost, we could not find the Way in and of ourselves… Not only did Christ come to show the Way, but to be the Way!
Paul would later write in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 what Christ did for all people…
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 NASB95
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
According to the scriptures… God’s Word

He came… as a baby, as a man, just as God planned. Emmanuel… God with us. and because of what He would do 33 years later on a cross He made a way for you to be with Him.
