How Can I Go?

Samuel asked this question
He didn’t see the way forward
Samuel saw only one ending - death
If I obey
If I anoint a new king
Saul - the old king - will hear about it
Saul will be angry
Saul will kill me!
This shows us the relationship between Saul and Samuel
Saul saw Samuel as an enemy(dushman, shatru)
Samuel only gave good advice
Samuel only obeyed the Lord
Samuel separated from his wickedness
But Saul became an enemy
Saul wanted to stop Samuel from obeying the Lord
When people turn from the Lord
They often try to stop others from following the Lord
This is one reason why separation is important
Samuel was afraid of Saul if he obeyed
We often do the same thing
When we look forward, we only see trouble, loss, sorrow, death, pain, embarrassment
We don’t look with faith
We don’t see the promises of God fulfilled
We don’t see the protection of God
We don’t see the blessings and joy of God
We don’t see the victory
We don’t see the peace
We just see the worst case scenario
Because we are lacking in faith
Our wise heavenly father leads us step-by-step
Because the end is often too much for us to comprehend
He takes us one step at a time
Psalm 119:105 KJV 1900
NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.
We say:
Show me tomorrow
Show me my finances in 10 years
Show me the end of my career
Show me my wife/husband(single person)
Show me the end of my work and labor
But God says, “I’ll show you one step at a time”
This is what you need to do next...
Samuel said, “How can I go?”
And God gave him step-by-step instructions

“Take an heifer”

1 Samuel 16:2 KJV 1900
And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord.
Anointing the king started with a cow
Samuel is an old, respected(sammaan), feared man
Doing the work of a farmer/shepherd
Leading a stinky animal
When the whole task was too much to comprehend
God gave him a simple first task
Get a cow!
We often tell God: “That’s too much(jyaadaa) for me”
That’s too much for me
Then He gives us something simple and we say: “That is below me!”
Let him control the portions!
Trust him!
He knows what we need
He knows what we can handle
Just obey what he gives and take it one step at a time
God will lead you step-by step to his end goal
But it always starts with faithfulness and obedience in small things

“Say I am come to sacrifice to the LORD”

1 Samuel 16:2 KJV 1900
And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord.
You are on an errand for the Lord
Tell people that you are on an errand for the Lord
But first make sure it is true
Make sure that you are not following you own will/desires/plans/flesh
Make sure you are doing his work
Then let everyone know
Putting yourself under His authority is so liberating!
We don’t worry about the results(parinaam)
We don’t worry about what people will say
We don’t worry about what people will do
We are just obeying the LORD
We are on His errand(dutkarma)
We are doing His work according to His plan!
Does the king have a problem with it?
His problem is with the LORD!
Not with me!
I know who it going to win that fight!
Our pride(garba) wants to take all glory and responsibility
But When we understand who we serve
When we understand that it is not about us
We make the work much easier!

“Call Jesse to the sacrifice”.

1 Samuel 16:3 KJV 1900
And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.
Get others to do what you are doing!
Get others excited about following the Lord
Get others to worship the Lord
Get others to give themselves to the service of the Lord
Reach out and replicate
“We are to know God and make him known”
First focus on yourself
On your obedience(rabaiyaa)
On your attitude
On your faith
On your service(sewaa)
Then get others involved(samaabesh)
Living Christianity will reproduce(purnutpaadan garnu)
It won’t just stay in one place
In one person
It won’t be contained(aTaaunu)
You won’t be able to hide it
You will be calling others to Christ
______________________________________________________
When God gives you a big task
He has given us all big tasks
Look to Him for the step by step instructions
And take it one day at a time!
If you are an unbeliever
What is your first step(pahilo kadama)?
Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
“Tara binaa-biswaas uhaa’laai khushi parnu asambhab chha;”
Believe on God
Make Him your Savior
Don’t wait
Don’t do it tomorrow
Trust Him today!
