Introduction
Christmas is a holiday celebrated all around the world.
I have had the opportunity to travel around some parts of the world. and I have seen how the rest of the world lives.
While kids in America wish the toys, I can just imagine the thoughts that go through the heads of children around the world saying, “I wish I was born in America.” The land of opportunity. The home of the free.
We don’t get to choose our birth line in this world. We had no say in whether we would be an American, African, Asia, European, or Latin.
We didn’t get to choose if we were born into a Upper, middle, or lower class family.
But we all know that it does make a difference in the lives of so many
The world can be a cruel place. Have you ever had jealous thoughts about those around you.
I wish I could go on vacation.
I wish I could have a new car.
I wish my family loved each other the way that family does.
I wish my dad wouldn’t have left.
I wish my family would have protected me.
I wish I was never born.
These are all proofs that the flesh is unfair.
But what if you could choose?
What if you had the choice of what family you would be apart of?
This is what makes the Christmas story so amazing!
This s the very reason for the necessity of the virgin birth!
You see the birth of Jesus was very much chosen and calculated by him.
He picked the virgin Mary to be his earthly mother.
He picked the time in which he would be born.
He picked the place of his birth.
So why the virgin birth? What if I were to tell you that your salvation depended on the virgin birth. Some might argue and say, “No, our salvation hinged on the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins.” I wouldn’t disagree. But, without the virgin birth Jesus couldn’t have paid for our sins.
Let’s look at a few scriptures this morning and see if we can’t gain a better understand of “The Divine Line” of Jesus.
Bible Study

A Sinful Line Always Produces Sin.

Romans 5:12 ESV
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
Romans 5:14 ESV
14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
Adam’s sin and death was passed down to all of his descendants.
The command for Adam was clear. Disobey me and die in your sin.
Genesis 2:17 ESV
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Death = separation from God through a dead spirit.
Every son of Adam is born with a dead spirit. A disconnect from the creator.
Ephesians 2:1–2 ESV
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—
Eph 2:
Ephesians 2:3 ESV
3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
We, as the son and daughters of Adam, have recieved a gift from our fathers:
The gift of a sin nature. We are hell bent on sinning against God and each other.
Because of this sin nature we must reap the consequences of our not only our sin but the sin of others as well.
This is the line of mankind. We didn’t choose it and we are all partakers of it.

A Righteous Line Always Produces Righteousness

Luke 1:30–31 ESV
30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.
Luke 1:30 ESV
And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
Mary was not yet married to Joseph.
Mary was chosen to start a new line of mankind.
Luke 1:30
Luke 1:34–35 ESV
34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” 35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.
Luke 1:34
The seed of this divine line would be from God himself.
Mary was not divine but just a vessel.
Jesus would be born the Son of God and not a son of Adam.
The seed of God was pure, righteous, and without sin.
Jesus wold begin a spiritual line of sons and daughters.
All these new children would be born from the same seed. The seed of the Holy Spirit.
When I person is born in the spirit they are overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and new life begins.
Titus 3:5 ESV
5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

You Must Be Born Again!

John 3:3 ESV
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:
Every child of God experiences 2 births:
You are born into this world as a sinful son or daughter of Adam.
Some are born again into the spiritual line of Christ.
John 3:5–6 ESV
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:5
Born of water
Every time a women gives birth her water breaks signifying a fleshly birth.
You must first be born of the flesh.
Born of the Spirit
The second birth is a spiritual birth brought about by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The second birth places you in the family of God as one of his children.
You must be born again.
Christmas is the celebration of the new and righteous line of God. A line that was begun through the birth of Jesus the Christ, and offered to all through his death and resurrection.
Conclusion:
So what if you could choose when and where you would be born?
What if you could choose who your father would be?
What if you could choose the family that you would be born into?
God wants to give you a gift this Christmas season.
God’s plan has always been to adopt as many of us as would come into his family.
He wants to adopt you into his family through the new birth in Jesus Christ.
John 1:12 ESV
12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
Ephesians 1:6 ESV
6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
Ephesians 1:4–5 ESV
4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,
Eph
God’s plan has always been adoption through Jesus Christ.
You can choose to be a part of the family of God.
You can choose to be born again through the power of the Spirit. Not from something you do but something God does for you.
