9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
peacemakers = those who disinterestedly come between two contending parties and try to make peace. These God calls His sons because they are like Him.
The Gk word is used only here. It does not refer to those who promote human happiness and well-being. Nor to those helping others to peace with God.
12 As you enter the house, greet it. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
peace = harmony, tranquility. Refers primarily to a state, not an attitude, not a relationship. It denotes passion. Our peace.
34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
peace = harmony, tranquility. As above. Jesus confers this.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
peace = harmony, tranquility.
pleased = what pleases, goodwill
50 Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
peace = behave in a way to promote harmony, tranquility.
