People are asking..”Where are the miracles”
“Where is the power of God”
There are MANY possible reasons for this:
God’s will
God’s timing
Disobedience
But scripture gives us an example that I want to explore:
They saw Jesus through human eyes…
They could not see Jesus differently than they had seen him all their life
Even though they would have heard of his miracles....they would not let go of their carnal point of view.
There persistence at seeing Jesus through past experiences prevented them from receiving his power for change
Do we see our possibilities and expectations according to just human measurements of what’s possible
or
Do we see it according to God’s abilities and expectations
When we think of how effective we can be for God
Serving others
Communicating your faith
Contributing to a faith community
Is it poor-good-very good
When we think of our ability to have the career we want
I will have the career
I might have the career
I probably will not
When we think of our health and the future
It won’t get better
It is going to stop my plans and hopes
It won’t stop me
You tend to use memories of past experiences to predict what your life will be like in the future.
Nazareth could not let go of the Jesus of their past
Could not see him differently than they experienced him
That is why he could do no miracles
There has to be a letting go of the carnal limited way we think about our lives for God’s power to flow
What we think God can do through us
Can we reach our families and community?
Can we defeat negative behaviors in our life
Can we have a good marriage
Can I be a good parent
If we do not answer these questions with God’s answers…They will be answered with the devil’s
Three significant scriptures talk about renewing your mind-
Very important part of this:
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person....HOW?...... by changing the way you think.
Paul is saying ....WE…renew our minds.
We do not pray that GOD renews our mind.
Once we start agreeing with God’s intentions for our life…we will release the power to bring it about.
What is God’s intention for our life?
Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
If we have an incomplete understanding of God’s intention for our lives
combined with
A wrong idea of what our life possibilities are....
The power of God will not show up....

Why sit and let precious opportunities to grow pass us by
Faith is described as:
“the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
This definition of faith contains two aspects:
intellectual assent and trust.
Intellectual assent is believing something to be true.
Trust is actually relying on the fact that the something is true.
A chair is often used to help illustrate this.
Intellectual assent is recognizing that a chair is a chair and agreeing that it is designed to support a person who sits on it.
Trust is actually sitting in the chair.
How many have sat in a chair and it has collapsed
Do you stop sitting in chairs…?
Build a better chair and keep going
What are you believing for in your life
What is the seed you want to put in the ground
Bring it up and we are going to pray over it
