This sermon is a follow up on a point that SS Nancy Gutiérrez made the week before about the word being "a lamp to [our] feet and a light to [our] path." (Psalm 119:105) The main point of this sermon is to zone in on the concept of wisdom and its relationship to holiness through the Lord's discipline. All of this because he loves us and wants us to be a part of his family forever. (Call to action) Jesus is the Word. Jesus is the Light of the world. Before his betrayal Jesus prayed we would be one as he and the Father are one (John 17:21) which means we are now the body of Christ when we choose to trust and obey him. The Holy Spirit makes us the Word. We together are the Light. (Altar Call) God reminds his people half a dozen times who he is in their lives with these words: ""I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt..." (Ex 20.2, Lev 19.36, 25.38, 26.13, Num 15.41, Deut 5.6) He needed them to remember they had been delivered from their slavery. Have you experienced this deliverance? Come give thanks. Have you not? Bedelivered here today in the name of Jesus!

Introduction

Last week opened her sermon by pointing us to
Psalm 119:105 NTV
Tu palabra es una lámpara que guía mis pies y una luz para mi camino.
Psalm 119:105 NLT
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
Psalm
Throughout the rest of the week the Lord reminded me how true this has been in my life and I had no choice but to shed tears of joy because of how grateful I am for his mercy and love.
He showed me the relationship between the wisdom He shared with me and His discipline towards me through Him and others.
It is through these elements that the Lord makes the bricks that make up his temple, namely us.
Today I want us to take a glimpse into what wisdom and discipline from the Lord looks like and how it can change your life completely. But first let us begin with wisdom.

Through wisdom ()

Grateful for God making me willing to accept His wisdom through my parents upbringing. ()
But there was a point where I did not heed the words of v. 13 ()
Proverbs 4:13 NTV
Aférrate a mis instrucciones, no las dejes ir; cuídalas bien, porque son la clave de la vida.
Proverbs 4:13 NLT
Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.

Believers Church Bible Commentary: Proverbs Every Prudent Man Acts out of Knowledge, but a Fool Exposes His Folly (13:16) 13:16; 14:8, 9, 15; 19:2

The first of these is simply, as 14:8 puts it, the amount of serious thought they devote to their ways (14:8). Their ways (Heb.: his way) is a frequently used metaphor in the Bible for the path of life (cf. 2:9–15)

It is because of this that the word also tells us “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom.” () because once we comprehend who we are in relationship to God (con relación a Dios) we cannot help but to carefully think of our path in life as we stand in awe of whom Created us.
Proverbs 9:10 NLT
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

It is because of this that the word also tells us “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom.” () because once we comprehend who we are in relationship to God (con relación a Dios) we cannot help but to carefully think of our path in life as we stand in awe of whom declared “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
Transition: But there was a point where I deviated from the Lord’s wisdom for my life. This is when the Lord’s discipline comes into play.

Through discipline ()

Read , , , (4 volunteers)
God disciplines us because he loves us ()
God disciplines us so we may share in his holiness () without which nobody will see the Lord ().
Not pleasant, but yields fruit ()
God disciplines us so we may share in his holiness
God disciplined me throughout my life as a young man with uncontrolled lust (lascivia descontrolada) and through the power of the Holy Spirit has transformed to a man able to faithfully maintain the covenant of marriage in thought, word and deed. I may be tempted, but God has given me the power to say no to sin through Him.
It is through this discipline in trusting and obeying God that we can say together with Paul “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” ()
