NEW SERIES
I love the Holiday Season
I love getting together with family and learning more about them
This weekend was so fun
Now we get to finish off the year with a new series
This series is entitled Christmas for All
It is a series that will focus on the people surrounding the birth of Jesus
We will be looking at the diversity in the people that surrounded His Birth
We will look at what this diversity means for us today
Sometimes, we forget that God loves all people
Rich or Poor
High Class or Low Class
Those who have Social worth or feel Socially Poor
Jew & Gentile
Black or White
Homeless & Philanthropist
Religious & Atheists
He loves all people and wants to have a relationship with them
Why?
Because he doesn’t believe in long distance relationships
He desires to draw near to those who desire a closer more detailed relationship
How was this made available to us?
This Christmas, we have the privilege of celebrating how God the Father has loved us
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Christmas is the celebration of the Incarnation of God the Son, aka Christ Jesus
Christmas is the celebration of the Incarnation of God the Son, aka Christ Jesus
This Christmas, we have the privilege of celebrating how God the Father
This Birth, The Sending of His Son is how God demonstrates His love toward us
This Birth, The Sending of His Son is how God demonstrates His love toward us
It is how He chose to display His love toward humanity
It is how God’s Love for his people was made real
It is how He chose to display His love toward humanity
It is how His Love toward us was made tangible
It is how He enabled sinful people to approach a Holy God
Have you ever asked yourself why?
If God is perfect, why would He need us?
If God is perfect, why would He relegate himself or bring himself down to the form of an imperfect human?
Why would a Holy God want to compromise his reputation by adopting sinful man?
Look at the end of verse 9
I love how the NLT puts it
NLT God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
That we would live into a fearless view of life
That we would live in a way that represents who Christ is
Sacrificially loving
Sacrificially serving
Sacrificially living
Sacrificially giving
How many of us want to be more like Jesus?
How many of us want to Live through Him?
How many of us want to live into what He promised us?
That we would live into a fearless view of life
Where the only opinion that matters is that of the Lords
Where the only person we are looking to please is Jesus
Where transformation is welcomed
Where there is a paradigm shift from the will of self to the will of God
That this shift would cause us to live into our sentness
That we would represent Christ flawlessly in every area of our lives.
This is probably the hardest thing ever
But it is what will transform us the most
Sacrificially loving
Sacrificially serving
Sacrificially living
Sacrificially giving
Will cause us to know what it is to live through Him
It will cause us to love unconditionally
It will cause us to serve without selfish motives
It will cause us to give our time and efforts to those in need
It will cause us to do the unorthodox
It will cause us to love our kids better
It will cause us to love our wives greater
It will give us compassion for our neighbors
It will set in place patterns of sacrificial living
The most important thing, is that it will cause us to love people in a way that points to how Jesus has loved us
People will wonder why?
Because this love is foreign to those who don’t know Jesus
This love has yet to be experienced
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you!
As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
People long for the grace that the God of the Bible provides
So who will they experience it?
By Christians actually living it out
Church, the best way to understand the incarnation is to actually live into the power of Christ’ sentness by realizing that it is with that very power that we are sent into this world
The only
The best way to understand why Jesus was sent into this world
Is by living into that very purpose of our salvation
Is by allowing the transforming work of the Gospel to take place in our lives
By being little Christ’s and coming to this world to serve and not to be served
By living sacrificially for the joy of seeing others come to Christ
By picking up our cross daily and being a follower of Christ
Church, we need to realize the power of Christ’s words in
As God the father sent Jesus to this world
So Jesus sends his church
So Jesus calls us into His Mission
Because we are ill equipped, unqualified, untrained,
He breathes on us and imparts to us our only necessity
The Holy Spirit
That we would be filled to overflowing
