Intro—Do the holidays bring out the best in you

a) the holidays are a time for us to be thankful for all of the blessings in our lives.
People, our families,
—Its also a time for us to be a blessing
----GOD GAVE YOU WHAT YOU HAVE( EVEN YOUR SMILE) TO BE A BLESSING.
TALK ABOUT PAUL
—Paul was a guy who was far from God
—God dramatically showed Paul that he was the real deal( do you ever wish God would dramatically show the world today that he is the real deal)
---Then Paul spent a little over a decade preparing himself for Gods call on his life
—over the next 20 years, he was had seen God do great things,
a. he also was arrested, and shipwrecked, and beaten, and i am sure he had some tough conversations with God.
b. It definitely was not easy.
—He was determined, and motivated, and passionate about doing what God called him to do.
PAUL WAS THANKFUL
--IN EVERYTHING THAT HE WENT THROUGH, HE STAYED FAITHFUL, HE STAYED OBEDIENT, AND HE STAYED THANKFUL.
I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus.
a) Paul started many of his letters with thankfulness.

a) TRUE CHRISTIAN SERVICE IS NOT SO MUCH ABOUT OUR DUTY TO CHRIST, AS IT IS THE EXPRESSION OF OUR GRATITUDE FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US.
2. SOME OF THE THINGS PAUL GAVE THANKS TO GOD
Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world.
a) for a churches reputation of faith---
----We want to be a church that believes that God is here to do something.
we say “we want to do life together” “ God wants to do life together with you”
aa) Lets be a church that has a good reputation, WHEN YOU COME IN THE DOORS THAT WE REALLY DO SEEK JESUS IN ALL THAT WE DO, WE REALLY DO DISCIPLE PEOPLE INTO MIGHTY MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD, THAT WE LOVE THIS COMMUNITY RECKLESSLY.
I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus. Through him, God has enriched your church in every way—with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge.
1 CORINTHIANS
—Paul was thankful for Gods favor on the church.
a) If you want Gods favor in your life do something with what God has given you.
—use your talents, ( no talent) one of the best ways you can be a blessing to the church, is faithfulness.
b) be faithful, being faithful will also keep you connected to people.

3. next is Paul was thankful for fellowship, and friends.
a) Paul valued and loved his church family,
Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.
We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly. As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.
4. Paul was thankful for dedicated church members
1 thessalonians 1:2-3
—Paul was thankful for a good foundation in the church.
— Paul knew that the ground gets shaky and without a good foundation the church would be in trouble.
---Paul focused on building a good foundation in all of the early churches.
--PAUL was a church planter. He was all about expanding the kingdom of God.
—Paul could have said forget it, I just want to make tents.
