Jesus wants us to be free to live in Freedom.

I would argue the entire bible is a book about moving on.

Abraham had to move on after lying about his wife, and sleeping with his servant.

Sarah moved on after laughing at God.

Moses moved on after committing murder.

Moses moved on after committing murder.

Peter had to moved on after denying and leaving Christ.

Paul Moved on after breathing murderous threats and imprisoning Christians.

Jospeh had to move on after being betrayed by his brothers.

Daniel had to move on after being taken into captivity and being castrated.

Esther moved on, victim to champion

The past wants to hold you back or take you back.

Your past can be stories of victory instead of identity.

Israelites did that with Egypt, God hated it.

God wants to take you forward for a new work.

Neglect the past.

3. Identity Crisis.

Witness protection.

Fake passports in a safe with 10k.

Or a story of finding out you are secretly royalty.

Many films show some form of identity crisis.

The Story of the Gospel is in itself about an Identity Crisis.

Created in the Image of God for Good, sin entered in the world and all that is good was tainted by sin.

God redeems us through the work of Christ.

Your past can be tales of victory instead of memories of identity.

Joseph

Brothers try to kill him, sell him into slavery instead.

Ends up a servant in Egypt.

Is falsely accused of trying to rape his masters wife.

Thrown into prison.

Interpret dreams and those men forget about him.

Until Pharoah needs a dream interpreted.

Correctly interprets the dream.

Is a prophecy of famine.

He is able to lead an effort of storing up food, saves his people.

Brothers come to Egypt looking for food because of the famine.

Joseph Forgives and claims Victory in God.

Joseph didn't take the betrayal and being sold in to slavery as Identity but as a tale of Victory.

Joseph found his identity and self worth not in the past but in God.

It changed his perspective on everything.

Today we will partake of the Lords Supper or Communion.

This is a holy Sacrament instated by Christ the night before he died to symbolize the work of the cross.

He gave us this to partake of in remembrance of the sacrifice he made on our behalf.

If you are not sure if you have met Jesus and given your life completely to him as Lord and Savior today is your chance to give your life to him completely, Believing in the power of the sacrifice he made on the cross and the power he had rising from the dead conquering sin and death to offer us newness of life.

If you believe that and are ready to give your life over to him and to have the new life he promised, to be a new creation.

Now is the time you can pray on your own and partake of the bread and cup.

If you make that decision the bible says you need to tell someone about it.

So come and tell us!

For those of you here today that

Maybe you are struggling to forgive.

Or afraid to ask for forgiveness

Maybe there are these moments in your past that bring to much pain or shame to move on.

Maybe there are sins you keep going back to and rebuilding.

Maybe you struggle believing the Identity that Christ has given you.

Today during communion you can take a moment trust in the power and work of Christ and move on.
