The other day, I was driving home and it was an overcast day, but there were these rays of light coming down through the clouds… I have never seen anything quite like it before… These beams of light just shone through clouds....

We are often going through life at such a pace that we fail to stop and appreciate what is right in front of us in the moment…
In — Paul is able to capture in one verse the very essence of the what takes place in Salvation.... Every word carries meaning....
Then there is God’s grace that comes to us in Salvation that frees us from the consequences and guilt of sin… brings us a life giving relationship with Christ Christ, we experience the freedom from striving and have the blessing of being in a right relationship with God..

In Christ … (no one else but Christ is able to regenerate or save us…we were formally dead in sin and Christ alone has made us alive) … We have (we have -in our possession the privilege of salvation which we have and enjoy now - We can walk with the confidence of assurance of salvation)....
Redemption ( Gr. Full Redemption) … speaks of the cost and the purchase that was made…Christ paid the debt we owed...
The picture here of one going before a judge who deserves Justice, but instead of getting what we deserved we received mercy and grace… the judge then pays the penalty of the fine and then steps down of the bench and takes us by the hand and adopts us as his own son.. that’s full Redemption..

How did this happen?
According to the richness of His Grace - God has lavished upon us his favor and blessing.. Grace wins...grace has triumphed over the law… Grace is God’s Richest most elaborate investment in mankind…
What happened at the Reformation was that these great truths were restored.

Justification through Faith was not new a teaching at the reformation...What happened at the Reformation was that these great truths were restored... What Luther Calving and other did was to put the church back on track and restore the apostolic teach of being saved.
Five Solos or core teachings came out of Reformation… we have coved two so far..
slowly the wheel bearing were waring down… it didn’t happen immediately… we slowly got used to it being a little bit noisier on the Road.. until we had to address the issue… In the 1500’s the church had drifted from foundations of the apostolic teachings of Salvation by grace through faith.. What wa restored was five core principles or Solos..

How do we stay in favor?
This morning we are going to talk about the how?
Salvation is by Faith Alone...
Paul in his letter to the Galatians deals with this the issue of Salvation depending of Faith Alone..
The Christians in Galatia began on the right foot they were trusting in the Apostles teaching and were walking in the spirit… but then they were influenced by a sect called the Judaizers… These false teachers wanted these new Christians to add to their faith, circumcision, the Mosaic laws and dietary rules..
These Christians started trusting and walking in the spirit… but then they began to drift… and Judiazers had come along and added the idea… that you now have to work at it..
These new Christians began on the right foot they were trusting in the Apostles teaching and they band begun walking in the spirit… but then they began to drift… and Judiazers came along and added the idea… that grace was not enough --- you needed to add the layer of works to the equation..
They didn’t oppose Paul’s preaching but rather desired to supplement his message… even if it meant keeping at least the most minimal requirements of the Law… Paul understood what was at stake and the consequences of moving from grace to legalism.
T/s Paul confronts legalism with the message of grace and faith… In Galatians we find three movements of faith.
Paul knew this deadly concoction personally, and he wanted to liberate the Galatians from it.
As they turned from grace to law, their joy had evaporated, their insecurity had increased, and their love for Paul had turned to hatred.
They had lost all spiritual discernment.
Paul’s bold reprimand was a thump to the heart aimed at defibrillating their fluttering spirits, at restoring their consciousness.
The Judaizers wanted to add to Apostles teaching, circumcision, the Mosaic laws and dietary rules..
They didn’t oppose Paul’s preaching but rather wanted to supplement his message… even if it meant keeping the least minimal requirements of the Law… Paul understood what was at stake he was a former Pharisee and understood the consequences of moving from grace to legalism.
T/S Paul confronts legalism with the message of grace that is received through faith… We learn from Paul that Grace (unmerited favor and blessings) come to us through faith…
T/S Paul reestablishes the teaching that Grace and Faith go hand in hand..

1. Faith Comes by Hearing the Word of God.
