Review:

In part 1: We set a simple focus for this series - I said, as the Lord permits us, we will cover the 3 main points from gal 2:20
Galatians 2:20 KJV 1900
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
I am crucified with Christ: - the crucified life, or the relinquished life.
Nevertheless I live, yet not I, but christ liveth in me. - The exchanged life, the new life, the transformed life.
Note:
The new life is expressed through two main channels:
Christian Living - living like christ, living to please God. Loving what God loves and hating what God hates.
Galatians 1:10 ESV
10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 ESV
1 Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.
Christ liveth in us to please God, not ourselves but to please the almighty God, the eternal king, one who is to be praised forever and ever men.
Romans 8:5–9 ESV
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

2.
in the process of trying to live in a way that please God, we need a life in the spirit, a new mindset, a new way of thinking - a complete spiritual transformation:
verse 5b, Those who live according to the spirit sets their minds on the things of the spirit. pay attention to the next statement 6b“to set the mind on the spirit is life and peace”. vs 8 and 9a “those who are in the flesh cannot please God, you however are not in the flesh but in the spirit … so, you have gained the ability to be able to please God, because of the help of the Holy Spirit (this is my implied conclusion of that statement.
So, the exchanged life is not just, the life of Christ, but “a life in the Spirit. because the christ life is translated into us through the Spirit of God that lives in us.” He transformed us, he helps in the process of continual purging of our thoughts and help us live our lives in accordance to the will of God for us.
Romans 12:1–2 ESV
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
note: in Christian living as one channel of showcasing the exchanged life, I have mentioned 3 things:
it is a life targeted at pleasing God
it is a life in the spirit, meaning that your mind is fixed on things above and not on things beneath.
Colossians 3:1–5 KJV 1900
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Colossians 3:1 ESV
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:1–3 ESV
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
col 3:
I remember preaching from these verses many months ago and i simply summarized it using 3 points
seek the things above
set your affection on things above
Mortify your members which are upon the earth.
it is a life that is purposeful on the perfect will of God.
it is a life that is purposeful on the perfect will of God.
Christian service - serving like Christ, serving the purpose of God. I love how Paul puts it in 2 cor 5:20
2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
we are ambassadors for Christ
1 Peter 4:7–11 KJV 1900
7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:7–11 The Living Bible
7 The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore be earnest, thoughtful men of prayer. 8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love makes up for many of your faults. 9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay for the night. 10 God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings. 11 Are you called to preach? Then preach as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies so that God will be glorified through Jesus Christ—to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
please give some examples of how we can serve in the kingdom of God.
