Jeremiah the Weeping Prophet

Jeremiah 13:15–17 NKJV
Hear and give ear: Do not be proud, For the Lord has spoken. Give glory to the Lord your God Before He causes darkness, And before your feet stumble On the dark mountains, And while you are looking for light, He turns it into the shadow of death And makes it dense darkness. But if you will not hear it, My soul will weep in secret for your pride; My eyes will weep bitterly And run down with tears, Because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.
Introduction: We have been dealing with Jeremiah, we have dealt with his call, We have also dealt with community to who he was call Judah. Today I want to explore why Jeremiah is called the Weeping Prophet. I want us to look at what brought him to tears! What is that made him weep!
In life you will face situations that will make you mourn!!
In life you will deal with circumstance that will cause you to cry!!!
In life you will encounter people that will have you fall prostrate with your face to ground and cheeks filled with tears.
God will call us to crisis, put us in predicaments, drop us into dilemmas, that will cause us to Weep.
First of all let me share there is a difference between crying and weeping.
Weeping focuses of the feeling, while crying focuses on the process
Weeping is an emotional state, while crying is momentary burst
Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet which helps me to understand him even the more, it allows us see the tenderness of heart, is allows us to see him honor his call to God and his care for the people of Judah. It allows us to see that he cares. Jeremiah Weeps For Judah to Get it Right with God!
He tells the do Listen and not to be proud to what God says
When God is speaking you need to be listening!!!!!
We live in a world of distraction
The average adult attention span is 20 min
We ask the question How do I hear God’s voice
Shout Listen!
God is always talking, moving, doing, being,
God is always active trying to get our attention!!!
To keeps on track or to get us back on track!
When God is speak can we distinguish his voice is the question!
God’s voice is different than anyone else, that why you have to discern the voice of God.
He also tells the not be proud.
To many of us have unhealthy Pride that why we can’t listen
To many of us have to much Pride and we think we did it.
Prov. 16:18 states that Pride comes before destruction, and a Haughty Spirit before a downfall.
Check your Spirit!!!
Check your Spirit!!!
They would not give glory, because they forgot the God that brought them out
They thought they had arrived
They thought they did it
They thought they earn it
They thought they deserved it
That urban poet by the name of Kinderich Lamar would say
“Sit Down, Be Humble”
“Sit Down, Be Humble”
The he shares what God is tell them to do :
Give Glory to God:
What does it mean to Give Glory to God
It means to acknowledge His Greatness and give Him Honor by praising and worshipping Him, because He alone, deserved to praised, honored, and worshipped. We Give Him Glory Be Cause all of the Glory belongs to Him!!!
1 Chronicles 16:28–29 NKJV
Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Isaiah 42:8 NKJV
I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images.
When I give God Glory, I also come with a offering to express my gratitude for what he has done in my life. I’m living in houses I did not build, I’m eating from gardens, I did not plant, I am drink from the vine that, I did not grow. As we come before him in the splendor of the beauty of His Holiness it involves agreement, obedience, submission and rehearsing the Attributes of God. That why the seraphims in Isa. 6 just kept called him Holy Holy Holy. The were rehearsing one of the Attributes of God.
Jeremiah told Judah to Give God Glory and they wouldn’t give God Glory
Judah with means Praise !!! Would not give God Glory
Whenever you get to a place where you can not come into the presence of God’s house and give him Glory!!! it nothing wrong with God, it is something wrong with you!!!
They refused to Give him Glory!
Whenever you Give God Glory, he will give you revelation of situation!!!
Whenever you Give God Glory, he will redeem you
Whenever you Give God Glory, he will restore you
Habitat for humanity has a store call restore and what they do at that store is take materials from old house and resale it at a discounted price, someone buy to reuse, replace, or refinish a project that have going on a when it is finish it will brand new to somebody else.
Somebody should shout because when I was discounted he say my value and know I brand new.
Jeremiah tells Judah Give God Glory!!!
Because he wants them to Repent
Some of us don’t Repent because we haven’t gotten to that point where we want God to move in our lives!
instead of Repenting what we do
Regret what we have done or
we have remorse over what we have done
But do we Repent over what we have done.
Regret is being sorry-mentally
Remorse is being sorry-mentally and emotionally
Repent is being sorry- mentally, emotionally, vo /litio/nally

Regret is being sorry—mentally (King Saul, for example).

• Remorse is being sorry—mentally and emotionally (like Judas).

• Repentance is being sorry—mentally, emotionally, and volitionally

Jeremiah was saying if you Give God Glory he will change the things in your life to your favor
