God is powerful to sustain us and deliver us from trial and adversity. Moreover, He is merciful to render unto every man according to their work. These are truths, which David relies upon, and which he teaches to keep from despair and from stumbling into sin. His instruction here reverberates in Jesus’ own teaching in the Sermon on the Mount. We look into these lessons and Jesus’ later teaching from them, for encouragement and instruction.
