I want to awaken the dream in you. Maybe it has died. Shattered. Or the lie you have believed that WE can’t make a difference.

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
WE must be the church that OUR JERUSALEM, JUDEA, SAMARIA & THE GLOBE would miss if WE weren’t here.
In this one verse we see the PERSON of Jesus, the PEOPLE/WE, the POWER of the Holy Spirit and the PLAN of God. This is on of the most exciting verses in the entire Bible. It should set our direction here at BCC!
So it starts in our JERUSALEM = TCounty

What is our mission here at BCC? It is - WE EXIST TO MOVE PEOPLE INTO A MORE DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST.
WE EXIST - We are not super saints with a new strategy. We are desperately dependent upon Jesus Christ. We are not the end and Jesus is the means. We are the means and Jesus is the end. He is the beginning and the end.
TO MOVE - We are followers of Christ not just believers in Christ. We are a sent people. We are empowered by God to build relationships with people far from God and bring them to Jesus.
PEOPLE INTO A MORE - We are about PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE. We believe God works through people, not programs. It is the church’s role to equip individuals to respond to God’s activity in their life. God has more than anything or anyone can offer.
DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIP - Our success equals a life changed by the power of the Holy Spirit! When people meet the biblical Jesus their lives will never be the same. We are matchmakers.
WITH JESUS CHRIST - We have a desperate need for Jesus. His name is at the end of the sentence but He is the engine pulling our purpose. We are following Jesus.
At BCC it is Jesus & We!
Trans: Every Christ follower should have a foundational understanding of mission. That why we are going to take a biblical look at the REASONS for missions, the ROADBLOCKS to missions, and the REWARDS of missions.
The REASON for missions:
1. God Commands Us To Care
2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
When we reach out a helping hand through missions we are obeying the law of Christ. Law of Christ?
Law = Great Commandment It is repeated 10 times in the Bible.
Ill - As your pastor I want to get you ready for the day that you stand before God and I don’t want Him saying to you, “Now what part of ‘Love your neighbor’ did you not understand?” I want you to understand it fully so you can actually act on it. God commands us to care.
Caring is more than a feeling. You can have all the caring feelings in the world but if you don’t act of them you don’t care. When we move with Jesus we stop thinking and feeling and start acting a doing.
Ill - Parent, sick baby, middle of the night. You didn’t feel like it. BUT...
2. God Commands Us To Become Like Jesus
29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
We are destined to be like Jesus. He came to share and serve… He set the example and now He wants us to be like Him.
It’s not an option. If we don’t learn to care and conform to Christ we have wasted our time.
Arg: Mark, BCC is turning 18 isn’t it time we settle down and start acting like an adult?
One of the reasons I will always remind BCC of her mission this time of year is because I want to counteract the inevitable that happens in churches. Studies have shown that after 20 years churches start turning inward. They start to focus on themselves. They stop caring about the community, stop conforming to Christ. They settle down. They don’t care about the rest of the world.
The church that doesn’t care with action and doesn’t conform to going, moving Jesus is saying to the rest of the world, “You can go to hell.
3. God Commands Us To Bless Others
2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
We’ve been so blessed and we are blessed to be a blessing. Why has God blessed you so much? So you can bless. In fact, the more He blesses your life the more God expects you to help other people.
The more blessed we are the more responsibility and the more accountability we have.
Arg: Me, blessed? If you make more than $21,000 a year you are part of the 4% richest on the planet.
Brevard, famous? 14 summer campus bringing 1,000s of kids to Transylvania County. April - EWS.
There are 250 waterfall and two forest, Pisgah and Dupont - 800,000 visitors. God is literally bringing Judea to us.
Brevard College… sports team.
Brevard, NC is constantly ranked in the top 5 in national media for places to live or retire. The population is going to see more growth in the next 10 years than the last 50 years.
We are blessed to live here so let’s bless those that come here.

What if we care for and blessed others like Jesus? We would become like him and JESUS AND WE would make a difference. We would be the church that JUDEA would miss if we were not here.

The ROADBLOCKS to missions:

Ex: Peter was in the group gathered here. He had never been more than 60 miles from is hometown. Peter and the early church overcame numerous roadblocks. We are blessed because people broke down roadblocks for us to be here today!
Our goals for 2018 for our Judea, which is national missions, is to send and support. We want to participate and partner.

Some of these we already give to and partner with. The others we are working on the partnership and building relationships. We will continue to update you through the coming weeks. You guys just keep giving and going!
What would be some roadblocks to keep up from accomplishing ?
Nothing should get in the way of Jesus & We making a dynamic difference. What is blocking us from experiencing all the joys that God means for BCC? What keeps us from experiencing His power? What roadblock is our greatest enemy?
I don’t want us to be standing in heaven and God show us a roadblock that keep us from being a church that the gates of hell couldn’t stand against.
1. Our Comfort
25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
Circle the words LOOK CAREFULLY, DO and BLESS. We are looking carefully at what our mission (Jesus & We) is for 2018. It involves DOING which will not be comfortable.
Key Word: Courage - we can have courage or comfort as a church but we can’t have both.
2. Our Calendar
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

24 hours in a day… 168 hours in a week...
I don’t want us to stand in front of Jesus with the roadblock of time (STRANGER THINGS) keeping us from being the church that OUR JUDEA would miss if we weren’t here.

3. Our Cash
8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
I can’t afford this! Mission trips cost money! … God is not poor.
We are going to set a 2018 mission budget that is 10X larger than our 2017 budget.

4. Our Competence
I don’t have the ability. God is not looking at your ability but your availability.

11 Now you should finish what you started. Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what you have. 12 Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.

We don’t need God’s great power if we are sitting on the sofa at home. We need power when we move out to be witnesses. Remember the turtle on the fence post being a picture of grace? Here is another turtle lesson. A turtle only make progress if he sticks his neck out.
Arg: What about failure? I would rather attempt something that would take Jesus & We and His power and fail. Than to attempt nothing with Jesus & Me and succeed.
I honestly believe that the local church living and teaching the truths of Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. Jesus wants to connect YOU to We & Jesus to reaching our nation for Him.
