Theology is important. The author of Hebrews makes this clear throughout the book of Hebrews in this portion the author reveals it to us by showing us that Jesus sanctifies us. This is not progressive sanctification but the sanctification that is the completed work of salvation. We also learn that Jesus is not ashamed to call us his brothers and sister and he free us from the power and fear of death. We see the humanity and the deity of Jesus laid out for us. Jesus the God-man is the only one who can sanctify us. Hopefully, we have not made a God in our own mind that is not the God of the Bible.
