Intro

Has anyone ever made you a promise and broken it?
Think of the one promise throughout your whole life that you wish would’ve actually been kept
Also think of the person that made and broke this promise
Our God is a God of promises. When He says He will do something it will get done.
Matthew 1:21 ESV
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
God has always planned and promised to save His people

Colossians 1:3–5 ESV
3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,

The Source of Hope

The Source of Hope

Hope is the future confidence in your present faith
The God of the Bible, YHWH, is the only source of hope.
Titus 1:2 ESV
in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began
Titus 1:1–3 ESV
Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior;
Titus 1:1–2 ESV
Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began
Titus 1:1–2 ESV

This source is the God of the Bible
This source is the God of the Bible
When God makes a promise we know He will keep it because He never lies.
Those that break promises to us do so because they are liars
God reveals this hope through His word
God manifests hope in two ways:
Psalm 119:81 ESV
My soul longs for your salvation; I hope in your word.
1. His Law
Psalm 119:114 ESV
You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.
Psalm 119:43 ESV
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules.
Ps 119:
Psalm 119:147 ESV
I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope in your words.
Ps. 119
Ps
Psalm 130:5 ESV
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;

The Message of Hope

The Gospel
God
We can only hope in what is true
God came to us. All other religions require us to go to Him.

The Destination of Hope
1 Peter 1:3–5 ESV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
