If you have ever flown you know about the safety message at the beginning
In years past it was given by stern faced flight attendants who literally held up the seat belt and demonstrated everything that you needed to know before you could be on your way to your destination.
But things have changed because on the majority of flights now its all done with a recorded video.
I sat next to a Haitian gentleman and he made a very keen observation...
How in the world can they be smiling ..... with what they are telling us

A. They first tell us that there are several emergency exits but its our job to find them and then determine which one is the closest.

B. Theres also oxygen mask that will magically fall down from the ceiling just in case the air, from those tiny little outlets stops for some reason.
That means you are trying to put one of these on while gasping for breath.

That little cup with the rubber bands that look a lot like the rubber bands that are on Halloween masks goes over your mouth

An just to freak you out the little bag is going to look uninflated.
C. Bracing for impact… I’ve seen planes crash in movies and they ain’t nobody following these instructions

In this passage it’s important for us to take notice that this is the only passage where Jesus directly calls Himself King.
2. It’s also important to look at this through the lens of Eschatology (The study of last things, final events)
To fully grasp this you have to see Jesus return after the 7 years of tribulation when as verse 31 says “He comes in His Glory”.
This unique Judgement is for those who have come through the tribulation.
Even though its merits or standards are exclusively for that time they can clearly be applied to how we serve God.
A. God calls us to be a people who serve Him by serving others.
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
B. God is glorified buy how we treat the least in society.

There are rewards for those that are obedient to this principle.
I work for my rewards… not for my own glory… no I work so I can cast my rewards at feet of Jesus.
There is two clear objectives for 2018 that we are going to talk about over the next month
We must be obedient to give sacrificially to the work you have joined.
