Revival Part 4 10 15 17 AM
(NKJV)
13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 You are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Wow! Have we been having some great services here.
I am so excited about all that God is doing.
I want to take a minute to celebrate how Good God is.
Over the last two weeks there has been five people filled with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.
In preparation for this weeks training I was asked a question.
The Question was what is the VISION for Dayton First Assembly.
I had the vision statement written down, but I haven’t been sharing like I probably should be doing.
Unless you know the VISION, you can’t get behind it and help us accomplish it.
So, let me reiterate the VISION statement of Dayton First Assembly.
Our Vision is to be the Lighthouse that reaches our Family, Friends and Community for the sake of Christ.
People say… Oh! That’s great Bro.
Cope, but… that sounds like we have to get involved to do this.
I am here to answer that for you in one word.
YES!
Many people talk about Revival and yet when the sparks of Revival begin to take hold they quickly want to cover the flames.
As Pastor Denny Wells said last Sunday night, when the Rain of the Holy Ghost begins to fall, people put up their Spiritual Umbrellas.
What was interesting about that word was that the Sunday Night before Tabitha was shown a vision and revival rain of the Holy Ghost was falling and she looked out and saw a bunch of umbrellas everywhere.
For those who were here last Sunday Night and thought I had told Bro.
Denny what to preach you are dead wrong.
The only communications we had were a couple of texts asking how they were and would they sing a few songs.
You see it was the Holy Ghost that orchestrated the rest of that night.
Not Me.
I couldn’t have orchestrated it that good.
Again Our Vision is to be the Lighthouse that reaches our Family, Friends and Community for the sake of Christ.
I’m sure you are thinking, “Great, How do we get there?”
I’m so glad that was part of your thinking.
This morning we are going to talk about three things.
1. Be Happy
2. Be The Salt
3. Be The Light
Let’s go back earlier in and let’s talk about the “Sermon on The Mount” for a little bit.
Jesus talks about blessed or happy people…
(NKJV)
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Blessed or Happy are the… You know there are enough Sour Pusses who think they are one of the only ones going to heaven and their basis for this is the scripture “Be Sober and be vigilant.”
That doesn’t mean you have to go around with a scowl on your face all the time.
Blessed or Happy are… There are rewards for being a Christ Like.
As a kid all I could see was all of the don’ts for being like Christ.
Don’t go to shows, don’t dress like the world, don’t eat at places that might have beer or wine, women don’t wear your hear down, etc.. etc.. etc.. Instead, we should be Blessed or Happy… Let our lives show the blessings of God and that we are happy!
Be Happy!
Be The Salt!
(NKJV)
13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
What do you mean “Be The Salt”? I’m so glad you asked.
Salt helps preserve and sustain meat.
Salt also adds flavor.
There is a variety of salts available.
There is sea salt, iodizes salt, salt you add to your bath, salt you leave out for your cattle, salt that helps wake you up.
I have two pastor friends that I have mixed salt in a covenant with reminding us that our ministries help sustain the others.
We are in covenant to win the lost together.
We made a Salt Covenant if you will.
Our ministries are intertwined as you cannot pick out of these salt shakers whose salt is whose.
We have agreed to work together and to sustain and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Be the life that helps sustain the Godly values and ways in your family.
Be the life that helps sustain the Godly values with your friends and in the community.
We need more Salt… Be The Salt!
Be The Light!
(NKJV)
14 You are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
In a world where there is nothing but darkness appearing on every side it is time, that We as Children of God begin to Show the Light of Christ to the rest of the world.
We have had enough of people who have had their lights burn out.
They were on fire for a while but they let life burn them out.
Maybe they got hurt in the church, maybe they didn’t get and answer to pray that they were looking for, maybe they hit “Burn Out”… Then there are others who have never lit their lamp for Jesus.
They never struck the flint if you will.
They said all the right things, they talked all of the right talk, but they never made that decision to follow Jesus.
They never lit that lamp.
Folks we need to be the light to our families, friends and to our community.
Unless we light our lights many of them may never know Jesus.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want it to be said of me that “I was not a light that shined for Christ.”
We now go back to the prophetic word that is spoken over this church many years before I ever darkened the doors and it is this.
“This Church Will Be A Lighthouse to this City and to this Region for Christ.”
I believe that now is the time to light the torch of Revival and let this lighthouse shine.
We go back to the vision statement.
Our Vision is to be the Lighthouse that reaches our Family, Friends and Community for the sake of Christ.
And I close with this:
Be Happy
Be The Salt
Be The Light
