Introduction
Big questions need big answers.
Jesus is not afraid of your questions.
Jesus answered big questions throughout the gospels.
Seekers Persecutors Disciples
Jesus is not afraid of your questions because Jesus is the truth.
God's Word
First, is there a God?
I want to make 4 quick arguments as to why I think that the only sensible and rational explanation for anything is that there is a God.
Argument 1: Humanity believes in God instinctively.
"Also, he has put eternity into man's heart..."
, "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image..."
Every civilization in the history of the world began with some concept of god.
Argument 2: Cosmological argument
The world exists 1st Law of thermodynamics 1920's - World is expanding - Science believes a single starting place - so does the Bible
Argument 3: Orderliness of the universe
My truck - I know it didn't come together incidentally or randomly b/c it's too complex - I've never seen the designers or builders, but I've seen the truck and I know they exist.
The King snake
Argument 4: Morality of man
What is the basis of morality?
If there are only instincts and only natural selection, what role does morality have to play?
All ppl in all cultures have a defined morality 9/11 - Everybody wants justice.
The Christian God demands that to believe in him is to renounce all others.
Can't all the gods just get along?
The God of the Bible has no patience for pluralism.
Any belief in any other god is blasphemy.
If the God of the Bible is true, then all other gods are liars and lead you away from him.
They are wicked and will destroy you.
"In the beginning, God...."
"You shall have no other gods before me."
"Whoever sacrifices to any god, other than the LORD alone, shall be devoted to destruction."
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."
Not only did Jesus believe this, but Jesus believed that He was this very same God.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
"Whoever has seen me has seen the Father."
"I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”
So, what confidence do we have that Jesus is greater than all other gods?
What other gods have been raised from the dead?
What other gods have fulfilled perfectly prophecies from hundreds of years ago in ways that no man could control or manipulate?
What other god would die for you?
What other gods offer mercy and grace?
What other gods offer you assurance?
LANDING
Jesus is God, and He came for you.
He's pursuing you.
He's drawing you.
Don't resist him.
Enjoy him!
Delight in him!
