Main point

David saw the battle through the eyes of the Lord and he trusted in the God to win the battle.
Background
Saul as king
Saul was not devoted to the Lord.
He focused on the enemies being against him.
He did not wait on the Lord.
He gave rash oaths
He did not obey God and then he blamed it on the people. Samuel took the kingdom away from him.
Then he ask for Samuel to help him save face.
Goliath 1-11
He was huge!
He referred to them as “Saul’s Servants”
Were they Saul Servants? What were they?
Then Goliath Defied all of Israel in verse 10
What does it mean to defy someone?
Saul and Isreal reaction is to be scared.
Where do you think there focus is on? Man’s eyes
David 12-18
We know that David was strong and tough.
He was young between 14-18
He kept sheep
He was focused on God. Read verse 26
The Battle 19-58
When he came to the battle to give his brothers food he ran up to the battle line!verse 22 Would you?
Then David heard what Goliath was saying and he reacted differently than all the rest. He said verse 26
Why did he react differently?
His brother yelled at him.
But yet he was put into battle.
The King seem desperate
He went out with just a sling and five stones! Talk about it!
Read verses 40-49
45-46 David in these verse showed us what he was focused on. Not Goliath but God.
God was going to help him.
He did it for God 46 “all the earth”
He won!
Recap
Israel and Saul were scared of Goliath but David relied on the Lord.
Why and how could he rely on the Lord?
Jesus is the better David
The Gospel
Our sin brings death
Jesus lovingly die for us.
And now we could be saved
It’s like this, we are not David. We are not are Israel and sin is Goliath.
You see we can trust God like David because he can save us from our sin. Romans 8
