Introduction

Walk not as other Gentiles walk
As the unsaved
Many people are saved, but they are not different
The look the same
They dress the same
They talk the same
They work the same
They treat others the same
They celebrate the same holidays
They have the same worldly styles
They WALK the same
Paul gets even more specific about how these unsaved gentiles walk:

In Vanity(byaartha)

Using your life for anything except Christ
Games, appearance(upasthithi, anuhaar), entertainment,
Wood, hay, stubble(kaaTh, ghaas, paraal) or (sun, chaadi, ratnaharu)

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

Wasting(khera)
Wasting(khera)
Life
Time
Opportunities
We expect unbelievers to waste their lives
They don’t claim that Christ is their Lord
They don’t claim to have the same priorities(praathamiktaa)
But we are different
We are HIS servants
**Imagine if I hired someone, but they kept doing their old job**
It doesn’t help me, it is vanity/waste

In Darkness(adhyaaro)

of understanding(samajh)
Not understanding
Not applying things to life(apanaaunu)
No wisdom

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

It’s easier to deceive(dhokaa dinu) someone in the dark
No common sense
Needs are hidden
Needs are easier to ignore(upeksha)
But God’s Word is a light

105  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,

And a light unto my path.

105  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,

And a light unto my path.

For application(apanaaunu)
For living
For walking
For doing
Don’t live in darkness!

Alone/Separated(biraana)

From the life of God
Separated from the will of God
But willingly(raajikhushisanga)
For unbelievers, this is without choice
Buy why do Christians choose to live outside of the will(iraada) of God
Paul talks about this before

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Without hope and without God
Why do people live their lives outside of the will of God?
Because they do not understand the gift they received at salvation
They belittle it
They mock(upahaas)
If you continue to live without God(even after salvation)
How will unbelievers see God as important?!
Live like you need God at your side
Live like you need his advice
Live like you need his guidance
His Words, His encouragement, etc.
No communication(sanchaar)
No communication(sanchaar)
No help
Not reading God’s word
Not reading God’s word
Not seeking God in prayer
Not pursuing a relationship with God

In Ignorance(agyaanta) because of blindness(andhaapanaa)

Without knowledge because of...
Willing blindness
No desire to learn
No desire to grow
Believers should not be ignorant(anajaan)

14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15

Paul says many times that he write because it is not his desire that men be ignorant

11  Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth:

Unite my heart to fear thy name.

To worship God and follow his will, be must know him

In Blindness

We know him through the Bible he has given us!
Conclusion
No desire to learn
No desire to grow

Conclusion

Don’t chase vanities - waste your life
Be a doer - don’t walk in darkness, apply God’s Word
Do not live apart from God and his will
Do not continue in ignorance
