The Story of the Bible
We can summarize the story of the Bible into four main parts:
Creation => Fall => Redemption => Consummation
Creation: God made all things good.
Fall: Man rebelled from his creator, and the whole universe was tainted by the effects of sin.
Mankind’s relationship with God is broken and remains under a curse.
Redemption: God so loved the world that he sought to reconcile his people to himself.
Rather than all remaining under his judgement, he has made a way for our relationship to be made right with him.
Consummation: One day history will come to an end, and for those who have been redeemed, we will experience a perfectly mended relationship with God and will dwell with him in a new heaven and new earth.
Man Created in God's Image
Being made in the image of God means that we are the visible representatives of the invisible God.
We are to be like him and to show others what he is like.
Note that in v. 31, God looks at everything he made and saw that it was very good.
