A child asked his father, "How were people born?" So his father said, "Adam and Eve made babies, then their babies became adults and made babies, and so on." The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."
Teacher: "If I gave you 2 cats and another 2 cats and another 2, how many would you have?"
Johnny: "Seven."
Johnny: "Seven."
Teacher: "No, listen carefully... If I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?"
Johnny: "Seven."
Teacher: "Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples and another two, how many would you have?"
Johnny: "Six."
Teacher: "Good. Now if I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?"
Johnny: "Seven!"
Teacher: "Johnny, where in the heck do you get seven from?!"
Johnny: "Because I've already got a freaking cat!"
Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, "And what starting salary are you looking for?" The engineer replies, "In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package." The interviewer inquires, "Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years, say, a red Corvette?" The engineer sits up straight and says, "Wow! Are you kidding?" The interviewer replies, "Yeah, but you started it."
I spoke last week on showing where we as a church are going
We are a disciple making Church!
The leaderships job is to train the people to do the work of ministry
Ephesians 4:12 NASB95
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
Ephesians 4:11–12 NASB95
11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
Ephesians 4:10–13 NASB95
10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) 11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
Our primary mandate, we are told, is to make disciples
Our primary mandate, we are told, is to make disciples
Matthew 28:19 NASB95
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Our primary mandate, we are told, is to make disciples
To do the work of ministry you must first receive the promise of the father
Luke 24:49 NASB95
49 “And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
We are not to disciple the world using simple human constructs
Instead it is imperative, every believer learns how to operate in the Power of Holy Spirit
Mark 16:17–18 NASB95
17 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Mark 16:17 NASB95
17 “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
There are 3 questions every Christian should ask themselves every day!
1) Who Am I?
2) What am I doing?
3) How should I do it?
That’s it! Everything will funnel out of these 3 questions.
Today I want to focus on the first question
Who Am I?
If you do not know your identity the enemy will have a field day with you
And you will never be able to walk in your destiny until you know and walk in your identity
We have a culture, whose identity have become so skewed.
That some people “feel” they are no longer the sex they were born with
And were told we have to accept that!
For me that like walking beside someone who’s laying on the street with a broken leg and bleeding all over, And I’m told just keep walking…they were born that way!
No-one is born with sexual desires
These are desires that develop around puberty
God did not create people this way. They certainly we not born this way!
However some pre-pubescent experience caused a distortion in who they believed they were!
Since they fail to know their identity, the enemy can get them to believe anything about themselves
The same holds true for you and I
If we failed to know and walk in our destiny, satan can convince us of almost anything
That’s why it is so important to know who you are!
Video Who Am I (4:19)
Let’s take a look and see what the Bible has to say about you!
I AM ACCEPTED...
I am God's child.
As a disciple, I am a friend of Jesus Christ.
I have been justified (declared righteous).
I am united with the Lord, and I am one with Him in spirit.
I have been bought with a price and I belong to God.
I am a member of Christ's body.
I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child.
I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins.
I am complete in Christ.
I have direct access to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ.
I AM SECURE...
I am free from condemnation.
I am assured that God works for my good in all circumstances.
I am free from any condemnation brought against me and I cannot be
separated from the love of God.
I have been established, anointed and sealed by God.
I am hidden with Christ in God.
I am confident that God will complete the good work He started in me.
I am a citizen of heaven.
I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.
I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me.
I AM SIGNIFICANT...
I am a branch of Jesus Christ, the true vine, and a channel of His life.
I have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit.
I am God's temple.
I am a minister of reconciliation for God.
I am seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realm.
I am God's workmanship.
I may approach God with freedom and confidence.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
