The Prophet Jeremiah -Touched by God
JEREMIAH (PROPHET).
One of the major prophets in ancient Israel whose dates correspond roughly to the last half-century of Israel’s nationhood, i.e., 640–587 B.C.
He survived, however, the destruction of Jerusalem in 587 B.C. and lived out the final years of his old age in Egypt where he was taken by refugees who sought exile there.
His life and ministry on behalf of Yahweh, God of Israel, are the subject of the OT book bearing his name.
He was born under Assyrian captivity and Religious Corruption.
It was during this time in which the King of Judah, Manasseh had allowed pagan worship in the Temple.
He Grew up in a world of Tumultuous Change.
He saw the Spiritual Revival during the Reign of King Josiah.
In the text we see Jeremiah is called at an early age but here is one problem I want to present from the outset.
Jeremiah was born to a priestly family.
Which men he is a preacher’s or a priest’s kid which means he is being trained even know to be a priest.
He was born to be a priest, but God has called him to be a prophet!
