Deceiving Yourself

1 Corinthians 3:18 KJV 1900
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

With the spirit of conflict and disunity in the Church Paul is telling the leaders to recognize self-deception.
We must all light to the Bible!
These folks were pride and puffed up and had been deceived into worldly thinking
Deception - something that deceives or is intended to deceive; fraud; artifice.
Paul now returns to the subject of wisdom and warns the believers not to be deceived into thinking that the wisdom of this human age is sufficient for obtaining salvation and for building up the church of God.

I Self Deception is Destructive

II Self Deception is Detected

1 Corinthians 3:20–21 KJV 1900
And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

But you are basing that on a standard that is not realistic.
College the standard of what you know is revealed and it is a fraud.

Paul reveals the futility of self-deception (1 Cor. 3:19–20). In the first place, God sees through the crafty man: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness” (3:19). The quotation is from the book of Job (Job 5:13)

This wisdom reflects the mind of Satan and is foolish in God’s sight.

Paul supported this fact by quoting from Job 5:13 and Psalm 94:11. The members needed to see that the practice of boasting (1 Cor. 3:21) about ministers was similarly a self-centered spirit

This self deception will be detected and found out.
What is the best way to avid this?
Glorying in men steals from God’s Glory!

III Self- Deception is Defrauding
